Diy led

Should be good.....might want to add in a box of lenses for $14 when you place the order.

The attachment should answer your question on wiring. All the drivers can go to the same dimmer and 10V power supply. Use 2 POTs to separate the whites and blues and still 1 10V power supply.

Thanks, I ordered the 60 degree lenses as well. On the driver, do you set it at 700mA or 1300mA?

How do the SatisLed lights compare? I really don't want to order 100 at a time...

I'm pretty confident they are the same. Satis even has 2 different websites with different prices :) Look at the pictures though...same star, same solder, can get the same kelvin ratings if you ask....they have a live chat feature if you want ask questions too.

But I have not used them so can't swear to it but I'm guessing same LED. If not, I bet they perform the same because there is no difference between the FEDY 160lm and 220lm...same star, same diode...they just have run them up to 750ma to get to 220lm.

can you run two strings on a meanwell 60-48d and dim them if you run them at 1300-1400ma? will it damage the driver?

thanks
skunk

Awesome, that is what I wanted to hear :) i plan on running two 30 led fixtures over my tank due to my center brace. What bulb combo do you recommend from satisled? I was also thinking about a meanwell for each. Recommendations?

no when you run 2 strings they will be in parallel and the current gets divided by the number of strings in parallel. you won't get more than 700ma to each string.

If you run two 28 LED fixtures you can get away with 2 Meanwell ELN -48's. After that the price of the meanwells go up dramatically.

I can't recommend a bulb combo for you. You need to decide what color you are trying to achieve and look at what folks have done already.

I really like the look of 20k MH (I think that's what they are?). I like it kind of blueish and I want my corals to pop :)

How about a 3:1 ratio of white to royal blue? So each 28 bulb fixture would have 21 whites and 7 RBs. How does that sound? Would I need optics at all?

Thanks for all of the help and sorry for all of my questions!

if u want more 20k do 2-1 ratio

which should be ok for fedy right? can you drive them higher?

Correct..good for FEDY or Cree for that matter. Just pointing out that when you run 2 parallel strings the current is halved. No I wouldn't run the FEDYs higher...they get awfully hot.

I should also point out that you can adjust the output of these drivers. 4 screws on the case and you can open it up. There are 2 internal potentiometers...1 for current and one for voltage...SVR1 and SVR2. Therefore you can limit what you put to the LEDs.

Started working on my leds. Fuses and resistors setup.

Two down 116 more to go.

If you screw the FEDY leds down the screw get in the way of the lens. The #4 screws say to use a 44-41 drill, I am using a 36 drill bit. My resin for using the 36 is the screw threads and holds fine in the u-channel. I tried the 41 and broke some screws trying to thread the hole.

Is it possible to add a few red Cree LED along with these Fedys? Do you need a separate driver to drive them?
