BUBBLES! LOL

Thanks, I have a garbage can i can use but the pump is so big that it wont fit with the venturi on. It would suck up to the walls.
Thats how much force this pump has. Think of it like a tubocharged vaccum and putting it to the wall at 2 inches.
If i have a 30 inch deep tank that would prolly work much better.

In diameter it is, Its short and fat. The laguna 5000 is about half the size of this pump.
I guess i could fit it in the garbage can, I was thinking of when i had the diy ballvalve and venturi on there, and tried to fit it, It wouldnt go in so i set the 20 gal tank up.
I have the space to fit it on there like the way i am running it.
I don't think i can get to it today, But i will when i do my next waterchange. I think it will mix up salt pretty good.
I think it will handle the pressure good. JMO I used it for a short stint for my return, and i only lost about 1/4 to 1/3 performance on 12 foot of 3/4 hose and a couple elbows.

creetin: so you have a daaper tank or barrel that you could use to test in to see how these perform with head pressure? i would be interested how much air they can spew with like 36-48" of head. if they can hang at those pressures, i do believe this will make the new ORCA NW darts pretty useless in my book. you're getting as much air at prob the same watts or less on your first try of the mod. Congrats!! i'm curious as to how much better 5-6 layers and bigger diameter will do....i bet you'll need a bigger flowmeter LOL

i believe this pump can perform very well on those size it's a very good result , around 3000LPH .

i am now waiting for new skimmer to test it...... , if i will have more time i think to order this one and to test this pump on it i am sure the result will be amazing .

So you bit on the Aquarium Technik Burian skimmer, eh magvi?

I was posting some of their pics in the 'orca skimmer' thread as inspiration, as it seems orca might be going more that route. My personal favorite is this one... a 6" diameter, 2' tall bubbleking mini clone with ferrari red acrylic...

But gee Magvi... how come you didnt go for the D600?

Creetin, the larger container would prolly also allow you to hit that 120scfh mark easily. If a needlewheel starts to suck in its own output, it really takes a hit in performance because maybe in your case, up to 30 scfh is already being provided by the pump's water intake, so it can only suck in another 90 scfh of air before its reached its maximum.

Also, is the air intake 'pulsing' at all? As in, is the sound of the air being sucked in constant, or is it 'pulsing' on and off?

Not that much i mean i get 1 scfh variance but thats about it. Pretty normal if ya ask me.

Come to think about it i do hear the meter top out, and then reads 100 scfh. Hmm now you have me thinking that you may be right. It could be getting some of its air back in.

mavgi, what's the price point or retailer for the ATB? if you can shoot me a PM.

edit, found it right on their website, go figure :) will be contacting them shortly.

The mini-BKs seem to have the regular Laguna voutes left right on...

nice design one ive thought of using. been designing a few items that have the pumps internal. but, how do you replace the pump or do regular maintenance?
