Dominic,
What the heck is going on bro! Good to see some of the ole boyz still around:) Just got back in after a year break, needed...lol... Anyway, your corals look brilliant, coloration spectacular! Still full zeovit route? Take care bro, keep up the quality work :)

Perry!! Wassup man? It seems I took a year break also , lost mostly everything except a few frags, then had some weird algae that took a while to clean up, during that time I didn't add anything, I felt getting rid of the algae and getting water quality prestin was more important then adding corals.. after a phone call and talk with ReefSmac I decided to beef up my RODI unit, TDS out of the tap was 900+!! After that algae died off.. stopped full zeovit, however I dose zeobak once a week after water changes, then MB7 after that , instead of vodka I use Start2 , seems to be working...

Cool, I don't run zeo either, but I have a small 34g solana, just dosing MB7 and BioFuel. I am pretty happy with results, I will eventually add some zeo supps, but have no real interest in full blown system. I am stoked on this little nano, no controllers, very basic, but simple works...:) Well, good to see you around, and glad things are back on track, keep up the great work bro!
Laterz...

Not a coral shot but a new fish I picked up last weekend..

The Potters is pretty fish. Supposed to be one of the better ones as far as coral nippers too. That's what I read a lot anyway.

What did you end up doing to beef up your RO? More DI units?

Looking forward to seeing some more results.

Hey Steve, after we talked I beefed it up by adding another sediment filter, carbon block and DI unit, after that red cyano cleared up and died off .. really happy thats over, now just gotta add more corals..

Yeah, not at all like those demon Genicanthus spp.
LOL, yeah Steve, I'd stick a Genicanthus spp. over every single Centropyge in existence if you are scared of a nipper. They have much less of a propensity to nip coral by a long shot.

I actually was under the impression that of all the Angels out there, that the Genicanthus were one of the most well behaved.
Are you finding that not to be true?

Totally agree.

If you do have the stones to throw a Centropyge into your tank with LPS and clams especially, that a potters is (from what I hear) supposed to be a better choice.

It's always a crap shoot though isn't it?

Besides if the fish is pretty enough it makes up for any of that nipping right? :D

:lmao: I thought you were talking about angels in general... not just the Centropyge genus.

Potter's are stunning fish. I've wanted one for years, but their; endemic nature, "expert only" and "reef safe with caution" labels have all kept me away.

How is your fish doing Dom?

My experiences with Genicanthus have been nearly all positive. They are easily one of my favorite genera of reef fishes. Keeping up with their feeding demands in my tiny system has proved pretty challenging though. I would almost compare them to some anthias, which really won't thrive without numerous daily feedings.

How's your tank doin Dom? I miss your old 45G...I just looked through the thread today and man, that tank had some awesome corals with super colours.

When are you going to treat us to some sweet SPS eye candy from this tank? - In fact, wow looking back, its been more than a year since the new setup.

Hope things are better now.

:)

Hey Sahin, thanks for the bump, everything is rolling on good, frags are coloring up nice, thanks for asking man, I also miss my 45G, the downs I've had on this build put me in a reef slump so to speak, but all is good now, battling bubble algae though. Other then that a new bulb line up is due badly.. once that goes in, new pics will be on its way :D

Cool. Look forward to the eye candy shots - in your own time.

I guess after the huge success of your last tank, a lot of us have big expectations from you concerning this tank, but, this hobby is what it is and it doesnt always go our way, and we face hurdles along the way.

But you have the success of your last tank behind you and I'm sure this tank will be better in time.

Keep up the hard work, look forward to the photos. :)
