Dmorty217's 625 Build Thread

I received 50L of Sera Siprax today and have it seeding. On another note I have one of 2 QT tanks up and cycling. Sorry for the sideways pic

What are you going to do for a skimmer? Lights? Water flow
I'm jealous of the tank size tho for sure!

I have a reef dynamics skimmer that's about as large as I am to handle the tank. Lighting is still up in the air at this point. Flow will be provided closed loop with penductors powered by either a Royal exclusive red dragon or the Abyzz. Supplemental flow will come from MP60s

Love the tank dimensions. What is the thickness of the acrylic? Angel fish and Butterfly fish are my favorites! Were you able to get the fish from that guy, that sure was a great deal on those.

3/4"... And no unfortunately I'm not quite ready for fish but if I was I would of made the 8.5 hr one way trip yesterday to get basically everything that was left on the list. 150$ false personifers, scribbled, and goldflake get out of here with that pricing! 450$ for a Bandit... Can you say sold!

I know, Right! I'm surprised you didn't make arrangements for them at those prices!

Not much going on. Been busy with work and life! The 125g is up and cycled ready for fish. My builder is dropping the ball in the last week or so as far as finishing the house but we hope to move in week after next. I will be plumbing the 625g next week and trying to get water in the tank. I have a male false personifer coming on December 1st to start getting fish into QT. trying to pack my current home and also make progress at the new house it tough... I'm only one person! So in the next 3 weeks I'm suppose to have my current house packed, move into my new house, and go to Florida to see family:celeb1:

Whats your plan as far as aquascaping?

I plan on stacking rock along the back and left side walls in the tank. Then a large structure in the center with lots of open room in the front. I first wanted to do large 100lb pieces of rock but since have decided that less is more and went with the Sera Siprax. I bought enough to run the entire 1000g system with no rock or sand :fish2:

I would suggest rethinking stacking along the glass. This creates dead zones. You want to utilize the panes for bouncing current off of and keep the water moving. Leave at least three inches gap all the way around to glass.

Dave, you bring up a good point. I guess I should utilize a blue or black background for making the tank less see thru instead of the rock.

Maybe consider using a "tannish" (not sure if this is a real word) color paint for your background? I think that it gives more of a sense of depth than the usual blue/blacks, plus with any lighting over 10k, it tends to look fairly blue anyway. This is an awful example from my 120 Caribbean tank (just base LR when I took this one), but if you compare the color to the background in dive pictures, it's actually not too far off. Can be easily scraped off with a razor blade (provided that you can reach) if you don't like how it turns out.

Maybe try a flat grey color. I recently painted the back of my 180 flat grey and love it compared to the usual black I have done in the past.
