Do you have a backup in case the power goes out?

What do you guys use for a backup? I have a Fluval Evo 13.5 tank and I was wondering if those battery power outlets they have for computers work.

What do you guys recommend?

They work for smaller pumps but I wouldn’t connect lighting to it. Main thing is some in tank flow. I use DC tunze pumps and they have a connector that connects to a 12V battery. that’s what a lot of people do.

assuming temp isn't an issue, you can get away with just a batter powered air pump. If the tank is cold and needs a heater, those battery power outlets will only last for like 10 minutes.

Best bet, get a small generator. Harbor Freight has a 700w or so generator for like $80. Not the quietest out there but at least it'll run your whole tank

For a relatively short power outage, I have 2 Vortech powerheads on Ecotech battery backup. Supposedly it should last 24h or more.

I enabled the heartbeat (or whatever it’s called) fearure on my Apex. My cable modem and router are connected to a UPS. If the power goes out, my phone gets a notification from the app and text message. I also have security cameras connected to UPS so I can see the tank remotely to verify power is on or off. This allows for enough time to call for help if I’m away on vacation so someone can take care of the tank.

I also have a gas generator that can power the entire tank, and it only requires moving two power cables from the wall outlet to generator to make the switch over, easy in case I have to talk someone thru doing it for me over the phone.

I have a APC backup battery, it will run my wavemaker for about 5 hours. I have a portable generator at home and a wifi webcam.

That is UPS? Where can I find information about that so I can get a notification on my phone as well.

I mean Apex fusion heartbeat feature will notify me if it's been disconnected from the internet, usually due to power outage. The UPS is there so webcams and internet are still up and running in the house for me to check the tank remotely if the Apex alert happens.

If your internet is on back up. Search on eBay for belkin uverse battery back up and that unit will plug directly into the apex classic base unit. Then you can get alerts when your eb8 lose power and still log into fusion and check temp, ph and etc
