I've never seen this before, but today my Melanurus woke up being a total arse. I swear she's been trying to eat my Hector's goby today -- which is tiny, and no fish has ever even noticed let alone chased. Shes chasing him around mouth open trying to take bites out of him. Maybe it's because the goby started nibbling at rocks instead of just sifting sand..
First thing when the lights came on she was chasing the flasher whose the resident jerk.
Oddly the Melanurus has always been the most docile fish in the tank, except the *one* time the flasher thought he could boss her around, OR, when the flasher is picking on the Firefish. I admit, it's pretty cool watching the Melanurus guard the firefish. The melanurus will even 'push' the firefish into her bolt hole when something scares her.
