Does the hydor flo work on the 12g aquapod?

I want to order a hydor flo but read here somewhere that it needs 3 1/2 inches of water above it so it doesnt spray.

Does anyone use one on the 12g aquapod?

Also does a maxijet 1200 fit in the 12g aquapod?

Thanks

it has been used on the Ap 12 successfully
you do not need a maxi-jet 1200 the 900 pushes my sand around if i do not aim it correctly.
Plus the 900 is less wattage

Thanks enraged you seem to be the only person that answers my questions lol and I appreciate it.
I was hoping for someone that actually tried one on the aquapod.
I hate to order it if it does'nt work right.
I don't like that big bulky locline thingy or whatever it is that came with it.

kass03...I'm a quarter inch from the rim of the 12 pod and there has never been an issue with spray. I too have replaced the original pump with a 900 maxi. I love the hydor's so much that I've placed one in all of my tanks.

Also kass have you checked out the members gallery section?
pretty sure there are some Ap12 with mods there.
Might be of some help to you.

Thanks, I'm going to order one they're only 9 bucks right now at Doc Fosters.
Wish I would have known when I was there 2 weeks ago lol.

I have a hydor on my AP24 with a maxi 1200. I had to sand down the curved lip on the end of it to keep it from spraying water out of my tank, but am pretty happy with it. Only probably now is it keep blowing off of the fitting in the AP24. I'm sure there's a fix, I just haven't figured it out yet.

I installed a maxi 12 and the hydor in my 12g aquapod and had a massive sand storm. I didn't have a spray problem from the top though. I'm currently using the stock pump and the hydor which works good with a Rio 180 pushing water behind my rocks.

Springerhd Ive read you can use teflon tape to keep it on.
You can prolly use superglue gel also. I use it all the time in my SW tanks for fragging and it doesnt hurt anything.

Rik I'm sure you prolly read about rio pumps.
I had 1 blow up in my 150 1 time with smoke and black crap all over. Never again. I was lucky and surprised nothing died.

My hubby just told me he saw them demonstrating those hydor flo's at the coral conference at Doc Fosters. I was trading frags so missed everything lol.

I'll give the teflon a shot, thanks! I thought about the superglue but that is a little too permanent.

I actually have 2 maxi 1200's on my AP24 and no sand storms, although it may be because I have a lot of LR. I think aquascaping has a lot to do with it.

Maxi-jet 1200 is a bit much for the Ap12 from just about everything i have seen.
Might want to try the 900 bit less flow and lower watt.

O.k I got my hydor flo today.
I have to say I am kinda dissapointed.
It is really cool the way it rotates around but it seems to have reduced the flow so much it does'nt seem like enough.
I still have the stock pump and yesterday I removed the elbow thingy that comes with it cause it was taking up half the tank and gaudy lol and just ran it without it. It had alot of flow without anything attached to it and almost seemed better. Also seemed to stay cooler.

I'm gonna try it for a few days and see if I like it.
I really did'nt want to replace the stock pump if I did'nt have to.

Also those stupid directions lol I think theres 1000 diff. languages all except english. I was'nt sure how to hook it up so just put 2 of those black connectors together to get it to fit.

I read something in the directions about a sponge but not sure if the flo model has it. If so has anyone removed it for more flow?

Does the maxi 900 put out more flow than the stock pump?
