Dolomite

how are the corals? any chemists out there? is this stuff safe?
im afraid to test on my system.. but i am having prob "keeping it up".. my MAG levels that is.. you said there were 2 types6 and 11 , which one it the right one?or is that relitive to the size of chuncks?

It's just the different sizes. I got the 3/4" size, but maybe should have gotten smaller. My guess is the smaller size, the more surface area and faster dissolve. I'll check my mag tonight and again over the weekend. It's been around 1200.

Garrick,

Thanks for sharing the wealth on the Dolomite. That bag must weigh 15 pounds +! I'll add it in tomorrow (tonight if my golf game gets rained out) and see how much it helps.

BTW - loved the basement set-up: wet bar, pool table, poker tables, large reef tank and Bruce Lee sittin on the bar watching over everything. Nice, very nice.

Chris

Chris,

It was a pleasure meeting up with you and your co-worker this afternoon. Hope it works out for ya. Make sure to rinse that Dolomite REALLY good to get the sand substance out. Also, thanks on the compliments..

Any Time,
Garrick

DD i want some..

No problem. I'll gladly pass some on. I'll add some to the reactor and share the rest.

Gotta love the community thing.

I know you guys are going to put dolomite in your calcium reactors but it must disolve very slowly. This dolomite has been in my reef for about 40 years. It looks the same as the day I put it in.

Hey southsiders.... is there anywhere to get this local?
MIKE, just take a trip down at S. Elgin. A 100 lbs. all you need, this will last U until U become a citizen.:D .. Mix it w/ your ARM media.............PEACE

Yeah, I tried a few of the places down here and didn't find anything. I'm going to head there tomorrow.

If I bring a few salt buckets, I can just get them filled right? My wife won't like it if I dump a ton of it in the back of our CRV? :D

After a little investigating, Thornton Quarry has dolomite. I called the place (material service corp.) on my hunt and they said they didn't have any. I'm hoping the girl that answered the phone was just "dumb", so I sent an email seeing if they had any available. I'll keep the southsiders informed who are interested.
