bill, go check out Peta's website. They'll show you plenty of video with cows and pigs like that. It happens everywhere.

Something you may not realiz is that PETA is actually against us here on reefcentral in that they beleive that we should not take these ish from the wild. Some PETA members even go so far as to say they are agians all domesticated animals including dogs and cats. In fact many have been charged with animal cruelty because they went out and put hundreds of dogs "out of their misery." In m opinion PETA is hypocritical and over the edge.

I am not against them killing these dolphins. However the way in which they did it is disgusting. I beleive that all animals should be humanely treated no matter what they are. Dolphins pigs chickens ect.

I found this video surprising as Japan is usually pretty far ahead enviromentally speaking.

Get a grip people....

Get a grip people....

death is never pretty. They slaughtered Dolphins for Food. If it's for food, then it's OK. There is no pretty way to kill something without suffering. Even the so called Humane killing of animals is still killing it. hence the word slaughter. If you can't take the reality of the video than don't watch. As far as I'm concerned, they can kill whatever they like, so long as it's for food, and is not wasteful. Americans don't generally eat dolphin, but the Japanese do. Imagine how we americans look to some of the folks in India who regard cows as sacred...

I have to say that what I saw in the video was grotesque, I used to be an avid hunter, I fish and eat meat. A hypocrite? maybe, but still. I disagree with any form of slaughter that involves animal suffering and not one single person here can argue against the fact that dragging a live animal accross the asphalt is not animal cruelty. That is the issue here I think is the manner of harvest not the harvest itself. I truly hate the fact that people do those things to sharks as well and I think the real issue is the fact that people are responding to cruelty. To the person(s) who mentioned the cruel treatment of animals for furs and the mistreatment of the slaughter houses give me a petition for them and I will add my name to those as well.
I step off of my soapbox now
I apologize for the rant

Exactly. It's not that these animals were being slaughtered for food. Its because they were treated with absolutely no respect.

Very sad.

I feel sick by both the video and some of the comments on this board. Yes I eat meat and yes I signed the petition. I feel that there is a huge differnce between breeding an animal for consumption and cornering a wild animal and torturing it. This makes me think.

could you imagine if we had to grow/culture/raise our own food? my god man... all the area of land we would need per person... boggling...

thatss terriblee...absolutelyy herrificc i signed the pettition so im a little pleased. i never saww that thanks for bringin it to my atentionnn

Disgusting! I eat meat and have often slaughterd my own animals for food but i do it humanely. You dont need to cause asmuch pain as poss to an animal to make it a meal. And to all those who say we are as bad with our lamb, beef etc-any cruelty is the exception and NOT the rule. IVE RAISED GOATS, CHICKENS ETC AND ALWAYS HAVE ENSURED A QUICK SLAUGHTER

Amen. When farm animals are slaughtered, they are slaughtered painlessly. This means shoving a bolt through a steer's skull, electrocuting a sheep, breaking a neck, or slitting a throat. These are all ways in which the animal is killed before they even know it.

There are two reasons why I disagree with this dolphin harvesting.

1. The dolphins are being stolen from nature. It'd be okay if they were breed and raised by dolphin-farmers, but these dolphins are taken from the wild, which damages their ecosystem.

2. They are slaughtered inhumanely. What part of being netted, stabbed, and pulled out of the water onto a truck sounds humane? These animals are hacked to bits, not even quickly killed. This is disgusting.
