Dosing Pump Options

For several years I have ran a kalk reactor on my sps tank but I have been using a tom aquatics aquadoser recently and this pump has been giving me some problems. What are most people using as a doser?

I have the APEX and use the BRS dosers, they work great, plus the Apex is amazing the dosing is only a small part of its functionality.

Now I use them for my two part, and my ATO, but I used to have the GEO Kalk reactor and the BRS pump was great with the controller and the Kalk reactor as it helped to prevent siphoning.

I am currently using a bubble magus one, I have set up anohter tank and it requires 4 pumps so am thinking of getting the GHL unit with 4 pumps on it as will be cheaper than the BM plus extender.

I have had no problems with the BM unit and have been using for 10 months

This post suggested good experience with Marine Magic dosing pumps. I bought the dual doser model a few weeks ago and have been very happy with it. It comes with everything you need but may require additional hose lengths depending on your distance from chems to tank. It comes with dual timers and battery powered memory. Great unit so far.

Aqua medic 1500 for alk and cal. You must open the box before purchasing to see which one they have. Apparently there are some bad ones that came from the factory. If you can pull the impeller off very easily, that is the bad one. During operation the impeller will work its way off the shaft and push off the cover plate and posibly come off. If you call them they will act supprised, but then state they no longer send replacement impellers for "those" and send you a piece of self stick (female side) velcro tape to place in the upper arch and this supposedly fixes "that" problem. I was not satisfyed with that response and returned the bad one for an exchange. If you pull on the impeller and it takes a fair amount of pressure to make it come off, then that is a good one. With all that being said, I am satisfyed with there performance. P.S. keep the spare tube and jar of grease when returning for exchange.

I recommend variable speed lab grade (e.g. MasterFlex) with MasterFlex EasyLoad heads. You can get a decent used one for around $150 on e-bay.

I think most of the answers in this thread don't really apply to the question. He isn't wanting a pump to dose alk and cal, he is wanting a pump to feed his kalk reactor. Most of the pumps suggested here are rather impractical for his application.

I would go with the BRS 50ml hr pump. I have a similar pump i use on my ato and it works well with no back siphoning.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Bubble Magus dosing pumps. Where are you guys buying them? I'm seeing them between $280-$300.
