Haha, craziness!
I'm glad to hear that things are looking much better, Brett. I'm eager for the next chapter in your saga!
Fish? Did I hear someone say fish?
They can use cooler packs and are usually pretty good about waiting if it is too hot. I would prefer the 80s but we might not see that for a while.
HTH
Just placed an order for 2x gallons of Tech-M and a new Salifert Mag kit. Current Mag level from my old kit is ~1250 (tested today). I estimate it will take a gallon to get it up to ~1600 then maintain for a few days with the second reserve gallon. Then I should have plenty left over to maintain normal levels after that.
Me too :spin2:
I get to battle bryopsis already. Should be fun times.... :headwallblue:
Brett and Josh
I started some discussion based on some collected evidence that it may not be the total Mg reading that you need to be looking for rather a percentage of TechM (or some impurity in TechM) as part of your total Mg count. The discussion threads have gained some support and additional discussion from several of our chem E experts here on RC.
I'll see if I can find the links later tonight but basically I found raising your Mg level by 12-15% using TechM (or another but forgot) may be what you need to shoot for, rather then a specific level like 1600.
In Brett's case letting his Mg level drop to 1250 you may only need to elevate your Mg to around 1450 to get results. I don't recall collecting any data points starting with 1250 but other data points starting from 1350 and up seem to support this.
What's a safe rate to raise mag levels in a 24 hour period?
Check out the Reef calculator on here.
Very interesting Pete. I will bring my Mag up to ~1450 and hold it there for a while and see what happens. What's a safe rate to raise mag levels in a 24 hour period?
