I have to tell you, this build gets me so pumped to get mine rolling!! I've been using it as inspiration showing the better half.

Maybe I missed it (Lots of build threads, recently) but are you planning to cover the back at some point when you start spending less time working in the fish room and more time enjoying the fish?

Sweeet!!!

Thanks Pete. :)

Git r done! I'll be the first to subscribe to your build thread. ;) I would like to find a translucent material to cover the back so the pics I take from the front are more pleasing to the lens. But I also enjoy being able to easily observe everything from the back of the tank as well, which is where I do my feedings, testings, etc... That's why I haven't been proactive about completely covering the back. Every time I put up some poster board behind the tank to take pics it makes me appreciate the "openness" of the tank. I've just always wanted the equipment room to be as fun to look at as the display. :)

This tank is really coming along nicely. So clean!
I love those anthias.
Does your tank have a cover at all?

So, between a Christmas Wrasse and a Melanurus Wrasse what's you're favorite and why?
I vote Christmas on from a purely aesthetic side, but that is hands down my opinion. I like the well defined bars on the Melanurus's head, but I like how the Christmas is just more colorful in general.

Thanks Alex. Is there much difference in color between a male and female Christmas Wrasse? Also, what do you think about the Vrolik's Wrasse? Looks pretty colorful at least in pics I've seen.

I think the primary difference between male and female christmas wrasses is a single spot on the dorsal fin. That being said, its really easy to tell the difference and I remember watching my first christmas wrasse differentiate.

I don't have any first hand experience with a Vrolik's wrasse, but from pictures I always thought it looked a lot like a melanurus.

Great, thanks for the info Alex. :)

Thanks, I'm definitely going to use this design for my new build!
I'll put that link in my build thread when I get to that stage. ;)

Thank you Dennis! :)

My builds all look like I'm just banging rocks together in comparison.

lol, thanks jprime. ;)

I am still going back to the second page lol

The sump design is amazing. Were you using Google SketchUp?

Ha! Yes, I just used the free version of Google Sketchup. Nothing fancy, but it works! :D I gave the Sketchup to the fabricator and he built it exactly like my drawing.

I say Christmas wrasse as well. more colorful. I would try to see if you can get the anthias to eat NLS pellets. they keep their color better that way and you don't have to feed them as much. :)

Indeed. I think I'm going to hold out for the Christmas Wrasse. They had one at the LFS a few weeks ago that was jaw dropping but I didn't have my lids made yet so I forced myself to pass. I'm working on getting them to eat the pellets. A couple of them like them but I've seen the other 2 catch them but spit them out. It's a work in progress... ;)
