drummereef's 180g in-wall build

I've been going through this amazing reef build, I love everything from the tank size and the filtration room and can not believe how neatly you hid all the wires! Amazing, just breath taking! Im sorry bout the algae issues and hopefully with the new Live Rock this issue will resolve itself. Please keep us posted on your reef tank and keep up the awesome work!

So what happened? I made it to page 90 on a phone and my eyes are now killing me.

I just have to say as all have already said one amazing setup. I am currently doing a 180 5' tank in the wall of our old wet bar. So my fish room is not real large but its better than my old 120 sitting in the living room.

I have covered all walls and the celing with FRP for humidity and ease of cleaning.

The one thing i kept looking for was how you trimmed out the front but never found it. I know several people asked about it but you were not at that stage yet.

I have about the same space as you with the larger space above the tank. Was wanting to see some detailed info on how you finished it out.

Mine has been a long drawn out process as for its part of a three room remodel in our house. Heck i ordered the custom built tank and it set at my lfs for over a month before i even had time to pick it up.

Once again great job on taking your time and the amount of detail you put into this.

I think Brett must have had something catastrophic happen in his personal life to have not been posting for this long on his pride and joy. I sure hope he is ok, but at this point I wonder if he is still alive.

Nanook, I always hate to think in that direction, but something bad must have happened. I know he was frustrated about a few things with his tank. Hard to believe he would quit posting like he did over those issues. I always hope he would pop in one day and say all is well. This community could only hope for the best. I know you had some interaction with him. Troubling to know he hasn't reached out to you either

Brett was last on RC 3/18/2014. I hope he was busy having something wonderful happen, keeping him too busy to post photos of his excellently thriving reef.

Brett is alive and posting in the SLASH Forum here on Reef Central:) I am trying to guilt him into returning from his psychogenic fugue:D

UPDATE:

WHERE THE HECK HAS EVERYONE BEEN?? I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR YOU!! :D

Hello all! I sincerely apologize not updating my thread over the past few months (or year, I can't keep track :o). You guys never cease to amaze me, your interest in my tank and thread. I can't thank you enough for your interest over the years, truly.

For the short explanation... I went into a severe reef depression after the loss of my beloved Yellow Tang. She'd been with me over 10 years and to see her go was seriously heartbreaking. I considered throwing in the towel I was so frustrated. But I held on, just doing regular (and not so regular) maintenance to the tank. I just couldn't find that spark to really do something creative with my tank.

So I finally got off my rear and did something major... I've removed all the rock from the display to prep the tank for new rock and sand. Right now the tank looks more like a frag tank than a display. I had to chip the corals off the rocks to temporarily place them on a makeshift frag rack I made of scrap egg crate in anticipation of the cleanup. I don't have a timeline yet but I should be getting some new rock very soon so I'll be able to start cycling it asap.

Thanks again everyone who's stuck it out thus far. More to come! :)

WOOHOO! Brett's back! :bounce1:

I almost didn't look in here, figuring the thread got bumped by another poor soul looking for an update. :D

Glad to see you back. Looking forward to pics. :)
