drummereef's 180g in-wall build

I wish I had an update for you... How's your tank doing gradth? Been a while since I've seen pics of it.

I updated it last week or so. I have got alot done on it, stand is close but not perfect. Tank itself is doing good.

hey when is the baby is due? congrats on the baby..... i think that you should at list get the tank cycling at the moment..... good look with the new member of your family...

So you think once the kid arrives, you'll have more time for the tank? Seriously?

:lolspin: I guess you're right about that! Haha, no seriously I'm about ready to take the plunge and move forward with the lighting now that things have settled down a little. If I get the price I'm looking for I'll place the order this week (fingers crossed).

That's awesome Josh. Glad to hear the tank is doing great! They are all works in progress, even when you think it's done there's more. But at least it's fun right? :)

Thanks man. The baby is here and all is well. :) I'm going to try and get the lighting going really soon now and see if I can't start cycling some Marco rock in the next couple months. I want to cure that rock out for quite a while before I add any animals just to work out any excess nutrients before the tank really gets going.

The good news is that once the child is born you have extra time in the middle of the night to get work done on the tank;)

Good idea Brett, I have the Marcorock and its amazing, but I have been fighting hair algae for months. Its not really growing anymore but still hanging around. After everything I have tried and looked into I am leaning towards the source might be the rock.

On the plus note the rock looks great and with the few spots I cant beat the algae on its fully covered in coraline algae.

Get us some pics when you get the light.

That's what I'm trying to avoid with cooking it for a long while. Hopefully that will eliminate most of the nutrients. That's good news yours
is on the upward swing though. Algae battles are the worst!

Good to hear from you Brett.. how's the new member of the family? i hope everything is okay with the baby, i hope you got water on that tank already... post some pictures of the little one.... good luck man...

Ok, I finally finished reading all 30 pages and all I can say is WOW. You have an awesome setup. Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Joe

Drummereef, where did you decide to use slip vs threaded fittings/valves and why?
Thanks.

Hey Burly, the only place I really used threaded fittings is on the manifold and at the pump. That way if I ever want to replace the valves I have that flexibility in the future. All the other (white) pvc is welded.

He's doing great H, thanks for asking! I never knew how much I enjoyed sleeping until now. Still working on the tank... I was about to order lights but Coralvue is out of the Lumenbright Mini's at the moment. As soon as they ship I'm ready to put the lighting package together. The only reason I'm waiting is I've got a good deal on the whole thing so I can't justify rushing it. ;)

Thanks Joe, glad you've enjoyed it so far. There's a ways to go but getting there slowly... :) More updates to come soon!

UPDATE:

Well.... it's been a while huh?

As you know I've been a little busy with the new family member, but before that I was finishing some last details on the house. I'm posting these pics as updates to show you the progress on the viewing side of the tank. Installed new doors, trim, painted, and new carpet. We did it all except the carpet (I picked it out though... :D). Still need to paint the 6 panel doors and install the hardware but it's basically done. Oh, and there will be some finish trim around the tank when I get to it. Hope you like it. ;)

This is the before :thumbdown

That looks like the perfect room to have a fish tank in. I think the most exciting prospect of being a home owner is the ability to have a fish room.
