DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Chingchai,

What DKH do you get out of your Jetstream2?.

Also, what model of auto topup are you using?. I take it you didn't use the GHL for top off, any reason?..

Good luck with those stunning tangs!..... Any other planned fish?.

Thanks

Mo

Hi Ching just wanted to ask your personal opinion on having black sand in sps reef tank. I was told by a mate of mine that sps don't like it to much as it absorb most of the light going into the tank and they don't receive as much light ? But I wanted your personal preference on it cos I know you have much more experience than him in reefing. I really like black sand in a reef tank. Could you please tell me if there is any problems with having this sand in a tank? Thanks mate and O yeah how the Achilles getting on?

Black sand is fine. No problem at all.
You can check my friend's tank.

Achilles are all doing okay.

Great pics ching. How is the ecoxotic LED is it good.

But if you have snails this will topple the corals.I had this issue and removed all my snails. But I still find during nightime some corals are fallen down and its pick up time. How do you control this.

Haksar. Thanks.
I have some problem with big hiding crab.
They flip my corals at nighttime.
But nothing so serious. So I don't do anything to control this issue.

Mo.
I never check DKH from my Jetstream2.
I use local auto topup (Ginko Sea) which I install before I buy GHL.
And I am happy with it.
Thanks.
Now I am searching for a pair of Masked angelfish, school of Ventralis anthias, pair of Sacura anthias, pair of Gramma dejongi etc.
Still plenty of fishes though.:D

Chingchai, It is said that the Par 38 bulbs are to be used Without a shroud due to excess heat that could damage the bulbs? Have you seen any problems running them in your fixtures in the Photos? I am concerned, But Like the look you have in those fixtures.
I would like your opinion on this matter as I have purchased some of these bulbs for a large tank 650 US gal. Thanks for any input. Fantastic Tank, You are a master at reefing.

Bill. Thank you.
No, I don't deserve to be called a master at reefing.
Let's just say I take this hobby so serious. Obsession it is.

Regarding to Par 38 bulbs:
I just installed these bulbs for two days.
So I can't tell you right now whether it is workable or not.
But I did touch the fixture with my bare hand to check for the heat, it is touchable. Not too hot.

Just wondering how much is you monthly bill is, but one of the nicest tank I have seen. Hey one of the first pics you posted, did I see Ganesh statue on the floor.

Sir,
How's all the Achilles getting along?
You may not want to be called a master because you are very humble but in my opinion you are one of the greatest if not the greatest! So in my book you are the master.

Until now, these both male are still very friendly to each other.
Hope they will be like this forever.

That is a sight I have never seen with all the cross hatches I have had. Simply awesome! Its goes to show a large tank with plenty of fish room goes along way!

Nothing I can say hasn't been said a few hundred times about your build ;)

By far though, my favorite coral in you entire system has to be this lightly tinted green Rhizotrochus typus. I have been working on trying to acquire one of that color since 2007 and continue to wait patiently for one to hit the shores of US.

To be honest, I never check my monthly bill.
My wife is the one who take care of this.
But I estimate it should be around US$700-800 per month.
For the Ganesh statue, which picture are you referring to?

hey ching chai, lemon from Singapore here and my friends and i have always been a huge fan of your tank.

Lawrence. Thank you.
Let's just say we are all friends in this hobby. But I am the one who is more crazy than some of yours. That's it.
Achilles are doing fine. So far so good.
To be optimistic, I think they all can make it.
