DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

in those pics are some very happy people around some very nice corals! that looks like fun! very large corals for what looks like most are aquacultured pieces I wonder where there from?. that holding tank is beautifully built also. it's rimless glass at 12' long it seems like!.

Some of those piece are obviously just pulled off the reef (one you can easily see a 1" clam within the colony), kinda sad in my opinion...sure a few will end up in a nice tank and may survive but at what cost\\\ : (

I sincerely do not think so, in some places of the pacific, they "bred frags" in the sea shore..or lagoons

No maintenance costs and you get a very fast grow. The only drawback is that you need a very careful quarantine because they are very prone to pests...

i seem like a mariculture to me! there is a lot of coral farm in asia now because they protect the environment better than before.

I have NEVER seen anything like that in the US. What do those pieces go for $US?

THE LFS where I live would probably try to charge around $600 for pieces of coral that look that nice, they often want around $100 for less than an inch.

The biggest colony costs around US$130 and the small one is US$50.
Quite reasonable though.

They are from Mariculture. It took one and a half year to get these size.
