First I have to say it again.... Your fabricator is an artist... Truly a masterpiece.

Now I have a couple of questions.
1. There appears to be a 4 Inch gap to the right of the filter socks, what is this going to be used for, I assume that the red Acrylic is glued on all 3 sides for the right panel as the left panel has a gap to allow water to go underneath. I just cant see any water that does fall back there, getting out. With all your planing, and atention to detail, I am sure it has a use, just escapes me at the moment.

2. I was going to ask if you had plans to use the channel on the top piece of the red U, where the holes for the socks come in, but after studying it a bit more, I see now that it is actually the way that piece of acrylic was extruded, kinda like a channel to slide another piece of plexy. I thought at first it was multiple pieces, so question to has been changed...

3. In another picture with the output pipe from your BK Skimmer, you have a piece of plexy covering the filter socs. You can see the brace for it in this picture. are you going to be drilling holes in that cover for the drain pipes to fit through, or are you planing to route the pipes under it.

AS always.. Amazing work. Sorry to pull you away from it with questions.

No need to say sorry.
I am happy to answer your questions. Thanks for your interest.
- The right gap is for three holes of water inlet.
- No, I will not drill holes in that cover. The output pipe from skimmer is beyond the sump.
Anyway, I will take more pictures of the sump when they finish all the plumbing.

This is the kind of build that makes my RSM 130 look like a frag tank!
I wonder how how you change 25% of the water...

Water change will take only 10-15 minutes. Not so difficult. I guess.;)

P.S Scarface is one of my favorite movie.:)

Good thing you have a one kick but chiller. Because those water pumps is going to produce a lot of heat. Make sure you have those pumps space out good it will produce a magnetic flux.

Nice Thread, I'm always waiting to see what you have in store for us next!!

Do you have a source to by your salt in bulk, more than just a 5 gallon bucket at a time? Also, which brand of salt do you prefer?

I'd love to see a salt company "sponsor" your aquarium. Your other system should give you merit, while 800 gallons a month will add up in salt costs quick!

I'd be happy to start the petition;)

This is coming along fantastic! Good work.
Any thoughts of what you might use to hold your aquascaping together eg. pvc pipes, cement, or epoxy?

Thanks

Kevin

Wow that looks great!
Won't cement leach silicates or any other form of binders or chemicals?
Will it possibly elevate PH?

Thanks

Kevin

You can make rock out of portland cement and oyster shells. You have to "cure" it in water for a few months but it is do able. They make cement for lining wells that doesn't have the PH issues like portland does.

Thank You for the info
I suppose you wouldn't know which cement that is.

Thorite is what it is called, but I believe they don't make it under that brand anymore. I believe that you can use any "hydraulic cement" without having to cure for months.

i wouldn't suggest oyster shells if your doing large quantities of rock...they have a tendancy to leach PO4...

as for binding the rocks together...i believe thorite is the #1 choice
others use hydraulic cement as well...you could probaby even use sand mix and portland to make your own cement...

pretty sure it is the Lye used in the cement that will raise the pH, but the effects are short lived if the cement isnt overly thick, and itis rinsed in fresh water for several weeks....
