Duel Overflow & Return

I have a 120 Marineland Dual Overflow Tank. In one overflow I have a 1.5" drain pipe sitting 6 inches below the weir and a 1" emergency pipe sitting slightly above the weir. In the other overflow I have another 1.5" drain pipe sitting 6 inches below the weir and I also have the return which is a 1" pipe. BTW, both 1.5" drain pipes were reduced to 1" to match the bulkheads. I did not T any of my drains. I used true union valves on both my drains so I can fine tune to match my return. My return is a Eheim 1262. The only thing that I hear is the vibration from my skimmer's pump.

So how did you keep the over the back return pipes from vibrating?

As This turns out, the whole thing is going too be much simpler than I expected. I was delivered a single overflow instead of a dual. Guess I am going to keep it. I am tired of messing with this. I want too get it done.

Will this work?
1" drain pipe running 6" with strainer above bottom of the tank
1.5 "Emergency drain..1 that runs to just a fraction above water running level, where ever that is
1" pipe from pump up over the back returning to tank through Lockflow.

Thanks

accidental overflow

It hooks over the back of the tank and just rests there. Depending on how it is run will determine where you can secure it.

Another question. How do you keep this from overflowing

Now for the other half of the post?:spin1:
and another one. How would you suggest doing the return without Lockline? The tank is 48"

Another question. How do you keep this from overflowing

as in how to prevent your display tank from overflowing? with the overflow. This is where Herbie and Bean Animal style comes in. The pvc pipe diameters will determine how many gph it can handle. As long as your return pump does not exceed that gph, you should have no overflowing situation. The only issue would be what if your drain gets blocked, by algae, snails or fish.. herbie has 1 emergency pipe and Bean Animal has 2.

as for lockline, if you don't like its look, you can try

- spray your back glass black to hide equipments (from the outside), use a black pvc return, end the return somewhere hidden within rocks. Or make your own rock with a return hole (a few good threads on it).

- return it inside the overflow box. Have a hole cut out somewhere and connect pvc pipe to it

What I was concerned about the time of my posting was not the tank overflowing rather the back siphoning. I must have asked it wrongly. Anyway, I got helped out on that one.
Than you for your good advice.
