Dumb Plumber

I'm not a newbie and have plumbed tanks on several occasions. But, even someone with experience does stupid things occasionally. This is why it always a bad idea to do plumbing when you're excited about starting a new tank. It's kind of like going to the supermarket with an empty stomach. You always regret it.

Here's my entry on the dumb plumber thread. See if you can guess what's wrong with this picture.

If you thought it was funny, then you know what's wrong. Let's see if anyone else guesses it.

My wife wished she had a picture of my face when I realized what I had done. She said it was priceless.

Aw, heck, I've done that. My personal favorite is forgetting to solvent weld all of the fittings. Turn on the pump and the pipe blows apart. Brilliant! Also solvent welding a bushing into the bulkhaed only to find it's too big to get the nut on; or go through the drilled hole (just like a ball valve :)).

I've done this several times before with unions. Forget to put the nut back on before i glue it. Straight seperate piece of pvc, no problem, but bends and fixed plumbing requires saw and another union. Or at least, half a union.

You glued the ball valve on the bulkhead before you put the bulkhead in its hole. There's no way that bulkhead is gonna make its final destination without cutting the ball valve off and since the pvc going into the bulkhead and ball valve was made short, that means you now have to buy a new bulkhead and a new ball valve.

At least you remembered the bulkhead nut!
It happens. Lol

Just cut the pipe flush with the ball valve and weld a slip coupler or female adapter on to the stub. Ball valve is toast, but the bulkhead can be salvaged.

Or cut the pipe flush with the bulk head and glue a male adapter on to save the valve and use a thread x thread bulk head!!

See why I like thread x thread bulkheads....:D
