Light Brackets

In my search for finding a nice solution for hanging my Sunpower, I could not find anything that would hang over anything wider than a 24" tank. Many people would be ok with the 1" difference, but I knew I would not and it would bother me if I did not have something to be perfectly center on my tank. So I was looking online for ideas and I had planned on doing a bent conduit lighting bracket until I discovered jcolletteiii's light brackets he made for his LED lighting. So, I then figured out what I needed for my lights and ordered the following parts from 8020.net through Amazon.

2 x 1010 97" Slotted Extrusion
6 x 2015GRA Endcaps
2 x 4136 Brackets
4 x 4151 Brackets
8 x 4134 Brackets
50 x 3321 Bolt Kit

This cost me around $150 for the parts to build my 2 light brackets, and I am very pleased with the outcome.

I'm loving your light suspension. I'm in the process of setting up a 75g.

Can you just message this vendor on Amazon, and tell them the dimensions of your tank to get what you need?

Also, I love that you went with Tunze. So much cheaper than Vortech.

Thanks. I just figured out what I needed on my own based on what I was trying to do. I ordered from Amazon and the company is 8020.net. Good luck

Following this build...

This stand looks great. It looks like you framed it out, 'skinned' it, and the used 3/4" ply for the doors, trim and panels? I love the over all effect. May I ask why size ply you used to cover the frame?

Thank you. You're correct on the 3/4" ply. I wrapped the stand frame with 1/4" ply. It was much cheaper than doing the whole thing in 3/4" and I didn't need the added support for the stand because of how we built the frame.

This entire setup looks phenomenal! Looks like it was planned and executed perfectly, congratulations. Makes me jealous!

Thank you very much! I put a lot of thought into how I wanted everything to be and so far, I'm very happy with how it is going. It has a long way to go until it's full of beautiful coral colonies.

so you thought of any live stock options?

A little bit, but I'm not sure. I would like to get livestock that is different from what you see everyday, but some of my favorite fish are very "typical". I already have 2 Clowns and a Tailspot Blenny. I definitely plan on adding a school of Anthias at some point.

Small update... Today I received my new MP40 and I couldn't be happier after switching from the Tunze. I like the more "gentle" flow pattern of the Vortech with the controllability given. I will probably order a second once I start stocking with coral. Also, I'm almost done painting the doors for my stand and should finish tomorrow evening. I will post pics once complete.

Stand Update

Last night, I finally finished painting the doors of my stand for the new tank. It feels nice to have all that completed and see the finished product. This was my first "large" woodworking project and I am very happy with the results. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures and I will be adding a lot of livestock this coming week.
