Dutch reef

As always a beautiful tank and great picures. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your seriatopora, they were gorgeous and massive. I'm planning on coming your way sometime soon, to bad I didn't come earlier.

Still an amazing tank, love those lyretails.

Just read your entire thread! You make me sick! (just kidding). What an amazing job. Well done.

What lens are you using on the cannon? Look forward to more pics!

Thanks ! :)

I use the standard lens on the cannon.

Thanks Thirschmann !

I made a frag for a friend of the seriatopora and after my accident he brought it back to me to replace the dead ones. Now that is a real friend !

Tank is looking fantastic. Have you found the redstrip anthias to be hardy? Do they get along with lyretails? Thanks.

Thanks mrchriscarlton !

Hi Chooch1 thank you. The redstripe ( a. fasciatus ) were bought only a couple of months ago. It is to soon to draw conclusions but I have a feeling that these guys are very hardy. Because of their size they dominate the squamipinis but overall they seem to get along very well. The good thing is they also eat granular/flake foods. Not usual for anthias except for squamipinis.

Hey jwre, I just saw your tank in the movie Harold & Kumar escape from Guantanamo bay. Congratulations on the exposure.

One day, I WILL visit Amsterdam, as my good friend and best client was born there and goes at least 3-4 times a year and invites me each time. I will be staying in your hotel, just to see the tank! But I'll hope to get a tour of the equipment as well :)

Thanks Mr. Biggs, I didn't even know about it at the time they did the shoots. I guess it is an honour, although I heard it was not a great movie..... ;)

Hi Bax, it would be an honour to show you around this magical part of the world. Look forward to meet you.

Here are some update shots. Due to water quality problems ( heavy feeding and sand bed removal ) I lost quite a lot of my corals.

As it is now the tank is back on track.
I have been using Zeozym ( new product by Korallen Zucht ) to reduce nutrients. It is an enzym based product that you have to mix with tank water and let it rest for 10 hours. After that it is dosed. The water turns milky white ( a bit like with Coral snow ).
To have good effect the skimmer is switched off for 1 hour.
After that the skimmer produces a bit more skimmate then usual.
Water becomes crystal clear, better PE and more growth tips.

I now dose per day 15 ml B-balance mixed with 10 drops of Sponge power. 2 x a week I add 20 drops of Iodide to that mix.
Daily 10 ml Xtra, 2 ml Start2. 2 x a week 20 drops of Bak and Food, 15 ml coral snow mixed with 20 drops of Pottasium Iodide Fluor and 20 drops of Pocci Stylo glow.

Hi Nick, of course I remember you !

How is your reef doing ?

it going pretty good. it's still alittle immature so i need the corals to grow out more. tell martin and micheal hi when you see them. i'm going to try to go to europe again sometime early next year with the wife. probably Prague or Spain, or whereever the wife decides, so i will be looking to see if i can find a few reefers out there to visit! :D
