Echinatas more sensitive than other acros?

Hey guys so last month I picked up an ice fire echinata, hawkins, and a yellow. The yellow rtnd and the ice fire and hawkins are both stning now from the base and tips. Have you guys noticed echinatas to be more sensitive than other types of acros? Everything else in my tank seems to be doing fine except for the echinatas. Thanks for any info you can provide

edit : should i try and break off the tips that have stned? trying to figure out how to go about fragging the pieces atm.

Sorry to hear that! My echinatas are the most sensitive of my acros, and for me it almost always is an ALK instability issue where I start finding some recession at the base etc. I just fragged a really large Hawkins echinata colony to save it. Sometimes if there is just a little recession I will superglue the area. Bottom line, you won't save it by fragging it unless you ID and correct the underlying problem...

I have ice fire, hawkin and blue bird enchinata. They are very sensitive corals. I have success with them even in a mixed reef. The key is to have very stable water parameters especially alk.

Hawkins is not an Echinata, its an Turaki. I have it and find it pretty bullet proof.

With that said, i find that in general the smooth skinned Acropora is more sensitive then others.

i tried 3 times to keep an ice fire without any success. Samething with a.sunarsonoi. I have very stable parameter since i have 600G of water and i dose. Every other corals are doing fine. I was wondering if the leds could be the problem.

i forgot to say that my hawkins is doing great and i dont think we can put it in deep water acros. Mine is in the mid level right under a radion G1 at 95% for a couple of minutes.

Smooth skin acro I believe are delicate, so much so that when things brush against them, it could cause problems

Pay attention to the lights that people use when having success/non-success with these. ...or perhaps my observations are only a small sample size. All of the smooth skin acros grow fine for me under HQI.

that is my idea, since i have leds, i cannot grow deep water.

My Hawkins doing great. I tried ice and fire twice from Internet purchased. It all die on me. I will try to find some local and give it another try
