EcoSmart Live Comprehensive Update (BETA)

I had the same thing happen to me. Tried rebooting the reeflink nothing really helped. Now ecosmart live doesn't see any of my 3 radions. the schedule changed so I'm not sure what the lights are doing. Been manualy shutting them off at night

Just be patient until tomorrow morning, which Shaun said in a earlier post, a new updated patch for ESL, will be uploaded tomorrow morning.

I'm sure alot of our problems will be resolved for the most part, but just remember, this is a Beta testing period and it will take awhile to get the ESL program functions working properly.

For me, this is ground breaking what Ecotech is providing to make our reef systems state of the art in regards to the techie electronic world.

I'll I have to say, this truly amazing stuff and Ecotech Marine is at the forefront of technology for us.

Thanks,
Randy

yup I realize that, just making them aware. It sounded like the update was only to fix the communication issue if no Radions were hooked up

I'm sure they are aware of the most recent communication problem with the Radion not communicating properly with ESL website in certain situations.

For myself, it's the scheduling portion of the ESL that is not working correctly when trying to change the schedules for my Vortech pumps. I can only use the pre-assigned schedule they currently have in the program.

Thanks,
Randy

We appreciate all of the feedback you have been giving us over the last few days. As you can see, the EcoSmart Live Beta site is a significant update and every bit of feedback we get will help us improve the platform. We specifically wanted to get VorTech control in the beta so people that don't have an iOS device can start using their VorTechs within EcoSmart Live.

On Monday morning we will publish the latest round of improvements to the beta site. We anticipate the beta site being offline for about 15 minutes.

Thanks again!

As promised, this morning we released a patch to the Beta version of the EcoSmart Live website. This release has numerous improvements and defects fixes. As always, please let us know if you experience any issues. If you are using the VorTech control feature and don't have Radions, after the device search completes, click the "Missing Devices?" link then "Add Legacy VorTechs".

- Improved device usage immediately after adding to an aquarium
- Updated German label translations
- Improved and fixed defects with the new Aquarium Layout feature
- Added the ability to reset an Aquarium Layout
- Added the ability to enter a fractional value for aquarium thickness in the Aquarium Layout
- Improved the text of the website to render more accurately in web browsers on Windows
- Improved the demo modes on the Live Demo tab of Radion control
- Improved the usability of the aquarium selection drop-down and renaming directly from the drop-down
- Improved usability of saving and deleting existing Vortech schedule data points
- Fixed a defect with editing the start day or start night points on the Radion schedule
- Improved the legacy VorTech update flow
- Fixed a defect with importing VorTech pumps into a profile without Radions

Hello Shaun,

Thanks so much for the latest ESL batch, which I'll test out once I'm home from work.

Thanks again,
Randy

Waiting for ReefLink

Waiting for ReefLink

- At 6:15 CST I signed into the beta ESL and continually got the message "Waiting for ReefLink." At this point in time, my ReefLink circle status was solid blue.

- I cleared the browser's cache and closed the connection manager. I also closed Google Chrome. I restarted the connection manager and logged into ESL using Google Chrome. The same error message "Waiting for ReefLink" is continually displayed about every 7 seconds.

- I repeated the steps above, but this time power cycled the ReefLink as well. The Reeflink circle status is now green, green, green, yellow, green, and orange. I also continue to get the error message "Waiting on ReefLink."

I having problems right now, saying my ReefLink is disconnected, which it's not.

I'm wondering if the ESL system is down right now?

I'll keep trying all night and see what happens.

Thanks,
Randy

i just got my Radions, MP10, and ReefLink Saturday. So I know I am a late joiner to this thread but I am working with ESL now. I don't think it is down.

I find that i often have to unplug the reeflink for a minute or so. Once I plug it back in it usually connects with everything.

I got my VorTech programmed to change from Lagoon to Reefcrest throughout the day/night. There are still a few little bugs here and there, but it seems to be working.

Question....

On the transition periods (ramp up/down), what mode is the pump in when making these transitions? I assume the last mode the pump was in before the transition begins?

For those you see "Waiting on ReefLink" message, you can try restarting Reeflink.

I was following Shaun's instructions: click the "Missing Devices?" link then "Add Legacy VorTechs". Then it went to the firmware update. On the step 1 update, it did flash red and white. Next step it flashed blue and green and I saw the progress bar on the beta site. When it was near the completion (roughly 95%), it error out (I didn't have the screenshot). The error erased the firmware of my vortech. It was always green. It couldn't switch modes and the LED strip was not lighting up.

I restarted Reeflink and repeated the whole firmware upgrade. Fortunately, upgrade was successfully completed. My vortech is now 3.3 (three green and three blue).

What is the next step? On the site, I could not see vortech on my profile. If I click Add via wireless, it will see "please wait" again until it times out with Cannot-Find-Radion message.

I closed the browser, re-loggin and still.. I couldn't see vortech.

Things got so missed up for me, I went back to my iOS app for right now, until I can figure this out.

Now that I have my Vortech's running on the iOS app, I opted back into the ESL Beta program and I'm not sure if I have to upgrade the firmware for the Legacy Vortech pumps? I tried that earlier this evening and things went south for me.

It's late for me right now and I'll tackle this again, once I return back from my business trip on Wednesday afternoon.

Have a good evening and I check these postings while I'm traveling,
Randy

I usually have to do this every time I want to connect, has always been like this for me.

I tried the beta but it messed up my schedule, also the times don't seem to convert to my local time. Loss of connecting is not improved.

I do not experience the need to reset other devices on the network, including my Apex using Apex Fusion, hence I feel the issue lies with Reeflink/ecosmartlive

If your VorTech was successfully updated to be compatible with EcoSmart Live, your ReefLink should now be able to find it by clicking Add Devices Wirelessly. Once the wireless discovery process finishes, your ReefLink should find your newly updated VorTech(s). Please let us know the outcome.

Add VorTechs into EcoSmart Live

Add VorTechs into EcoSmart Live

I wanted to clarify VorTech Integration in the beta version of EcoSmart Live. Adding your VorTech pumps into EcoSmart Live is actually a two step process, where as with the Radions it was only one. Having said that, you only have to do the two step process once. The most important note is that you must have a ReefLink to use VorTechs in EcoSmart Live.

The first step to adding your VorTechs is updating them to be compatible with EcoSmart Live. You will only have to do this once. There are two ways you can start the update process. If you are using the Aquarium Setup Wizard, after the discovery process finishes you can select Missing Devices > Add Legacy VorTechs. If you are using an existing profile, you can go to Devices > Add Legacy VorTechs.

In either case, clicking the Add Legacy VorTechs button will start the Import Legacy VorTech Wizard. You will be asked to perform some button presses in order the start the update the process for one pump at a time. It is best if you power down other pumps while one is updating. You will have the opportunity to upgrade all of your pumps as the wizard walks you through each pump if necessary. The update process takes about 3 minutes per VorTech.

Once all of your pumps are updated and powered on, EcoSmart Live will automatically try to find them wirelessly. Once the discovery process finishes, you should see your recently updated VorTechs on the left in the Available Devices column. Each one will be represented by an appropriate icon. From there just select the VorTechs and add them into the desired aquarium.

Shaun,

On the Vortech settings page, when I drag the mode boxes around on the 24hr time bar, the start times do not match the start times indicated when I click on each mode box to adjust its settings.

For example, if I drag over the "constant mode" box and drop it on the 24hr time bar, I can grab the left-hand side of the bar and set it at 8am. I then click that box and the start time indicates 7am. It always seems to be an hour behind what time is indicated on the bar. I do not yet know if the VorTech is utilizing the time in the settings box or the time on the overall program bar.

Does my explanation make sense?
