Ecosystem Miracle Mud

Anyone using it these days? I'm setting up a new 60 gallon sumpless, low maintenance, lightly stocked and simplified SPS tank and was thinking about hiding some plastic trays lined with the mud behind the rock work or something like that. Id like to see if there's any difference or benefits.
I'm also ordering some uncured real ocean live rock from KP Aquatics to seed the tank with micro life. Exciting.

I have used for a number of years it in a sump with various macro algae and like it. However in display tank it's likely to be disturbed by fish and other livestock. As it's a very fine silt like material I suspect you'd just end up with a cloudy tank.

Yeah, good idea. I'll run some mud in a HOB refugium. I'd like to look inside so I'll make it a display fudge and hang it on the side instead of the back maybe.

Cool. In the 90's I had a 15g DT and a 10g display fuge just below with mangroves, macros and about 6" of sand and mud. It was pretty cool. I had pictures of it, but when we moved to SoCal, the box with a lot of pix and negatives were lost. I had a ton of 35mm prints, all gone. Ugh!

Think that would only be done if it's used as a nutritive layer for growing Mangrove. The sand will prevent the release of the beneficial elements into the water column. The original ecosystem method is just a thin layer of the mud with nothing over it.
