MORE EQUIPMENTS ARRIVED

Order two Icecap 660 ballast for my T5’s I’m planning to run with my Radium.

Took a little longer than the rest as Tom from SoCal have to place a special order for me as he doesn’t carry the 220v version.

For those of you thinking of ordering anything online, I give Tom â€"œ SoCal a thumb up for customer service. In the past when I was having trouble with my Mp40w, he even offer to send me a new unit as replacement first until my old unit was repair. Another time he send me a wrong size ZeoBak order and he immediately send me a replacement for free…. His respond was always within the few hours I send e-mails out, despised the time difference between US and China. Makes me wonder if he ever sleeps…!!

What else can you say except I wish there were more Online vendors out there with such customer service!!

Anyway, enough blabbing about my online experience so to get the thread back on track, some more equipment ….

TunzePump01.jpg

Will be using this as my return pump and my old trusty Reeflo Hammerhead will be used for my CL instead.

This pump is new in the market (I was told) and can be used internal/ external. Will do a mini review on this pump once I get it kicking….

Oh my god.....another beautiful rendering??? NOW you're really making it difficult for me to choose :D

Thanks WZHANG - once I have a cabinet maker and the final dimension, hope you won't mind to do me a final rendering of the final cabinet??

Hope to have something by next week, I hope

Of course not. And, good luck with the build, I'll definetly be following it.

I really want on of those tape measures you posted earlier, wonder if I can find one here in the states?

i think the stand would look really good white and stainless steel just my 0.02

Thanks Shawn... will play this one smart and let my 'boss' decided :D

I agree, the stand in white would be very sharp! And the unobstructed open top is going to give your "reef Island" a real nice asset! The Rimless tanks really are nice! I would keep away from any type of canopy, as it will take away from the open look.

Will be following you build!

I'm undecided on the canopy as I want to see how much glare the 'naked' lighting frame throw out before deciding...

However, agree, even if I were to go with a floating canopy, I wouldn't want it too thick

Clowns:
• True Percula Clownfish x 2

Dartfish:
• Purple Firefish x 2
• Zebra Barred Dartfish
• Scissortail Dartfish

Dragonets:
• Green Mandarin Dragonet

Gobies â€"œ lot’s of em
• Catalina Goby
• Green Clown Goby
• Bluespotted Watchman Goby
• Orange Banded Prawn Goby
• Panda Goby
• Randall's Goby
• Yasha Hase Shrimp Goby

Hawkfish:
• Longnose Hawkfish (planned to added in only once all gobies are established)

Wrasse:

Mostly will be mainly bottom dwellers and smaller in size type of fishes so looking at mainly gobies, sand shifters, 2-3 fairy and Leopard wrasses, dragonet, etc… List is not final so for sure there will be changes along the way.

What I would really really like is a school of about 15-20 fishes swimming around but at this moment can’t think of any suitable species…..

SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME GUYS SO ROLL THEM IN….!!

No tangs Ed?

Thinking about them - can't decided at this moment as their size will not be in proportion to the tank but I really really love em Tangs so I'm sure 1 or 2 tangs will appear somehow!!

:D

REVISED SUMP DESIGN – 2nd Attempt

REVISED SUMP DESIGN â€"œ 2nd Attempt

OK, after a good rest over the weekend and now that I’m getting back in to the momentum of things, I redesign my sump, which I think will work a lot better than the initial planned….

Top view:

SUMP-RevisedII.png

• The left side is seal off from the sump area for my power center, ballast, controller, etc.

• The red line indicates a low tank to capture spills from the skimmer, pumps, etc.

Front view:

I also layout the equipments for easy reach â€"œ wish I had a fish room to play around with as it will make my life much easier. :mad2:

Panda goby and clown goby= sps death...

No way I'd put one of those flesh eating bastages in my tank

Hi Ed, looks like its all coming together really well. Great renderings too! Certainly isnt going to make your decision any easier =)

One comment, I love your fish selection, however, that is a lot of fish that like to jump, far and often. Given the design of your new system, a top is obviously out of the question. Do you have any plans or ways to prevent this?

Outside of that concern, if you havent already, look into a helfrici firefish. I dont know if they are available to you readily in China, but they are amazing,

Best of luck with the build, Ill be following it for the duration.

HI Junior, thanks for your kind words - yes those great rendering does not make my decision any easier....

As for the top, it will remain open but planning to do a net cover and used this during the night when the lights are off...Most carper surfers usually happen during the night (IME anyway) and I'm hoping with the 4 x LED moonlight, it will help fish aggression and with the net cover, this should help further reduce the risk. (that's the theory anyway)

As for helfrici firefish - I do see it here once a while but have you seen the prices of those?? :mad2:

I think Purple Firefish is as beautiful, if not more beautiful and the price for those here is a lot cheaper in comparison....!! :p

certainly right on that one Ed. Ive seen helfrichi from time to time for $95, but thats half the normal price.

Purple firefish are very very pretty as well. I think its just that crazy yellow and pink head on the helfrichi that gets me. =)

I think the night time net should work fine. Might try to keep it partially on if you are going to be working in the display, as mine tend to make attempts when they are startled, or think they are going to be fed. Ive got 10 wrasses in my shallow tank, and they have nearly knocked off my netting =)

By the way, i really like the rendering with the wood accent trim. Really warms up the sharp clean lines.

Thanks Jr. - will consider making those nets in sections.....!!

Yeah, I still can't believe the pricing for those helfrichi?? Maybe one day I will get over the price tag and get myself a pair?? lol

One last thing, I just wanted to say thanks for a great idea.

My good friend Austin (stunreefer) showed me your syringe GFO filter for the effluent line of the calcium reactor. What a brilliant solution to phosphates leaching from the calcium media.

No problem - glad it's helpful to some!! Only thing is to remember to put your GFO into a small net for easy removal/ replacement!!

Something I found out only after using em lol
