No, that WAS the bargain shipping rate we discussed. FedEx and UPS charge rates that should get a package to the moon.

I would think it's much cheaper as those goes out in like huge shipping containers and they don't fly in 1st class :D

NEWLY AQUIRED SPS

NEWLY AQUIRED SPS

OK, now that my water params is getting back to where I like it, a little more exciting updates.

Was told this is a deep-water acro… any thoughts guys??

Was in my friend’s tank for a while now (while I dealt with my PO4 and Cyano issues) and only got time to take it back from him today.

The above picture look closer to the actual color of the coral â€"œ slight teal green color but in the day light, the colors looks like the below pictures….you can see the polys much better in this picture

Welcome Lunabud74 and YES, I will try to add as much visual as I can in the thread.

As for my Majistic angel, she did not make it as my quarantine tank was not hook up to a chiller and the Summer here is crazy hot :( Will have to think what to do on along term but not putting anything in my quarantine tank temporary :D

RO/DI HOOK-UP…..!!

RO/DI HOOK-UP…..!!

My RO membrane replacement arrived yesterday so last night finally hook-up the system and seem to be working right…….

RO Unit Membrane - New
ROMembraneNew.jpg

Heeeey…. nicely vacuum pack and Made-in-USA too!!

RO Unit Membrane - Old
ROMembraneOld.jpg

I can see the side of the old membrane has gone dark from the 2 years of used. I still find it odd for the membrane to get clog so quickly….could be that I didn’t installed it properly when I first got the RO unit.

The original membrane was also ‘Made-in-USA’ but a different brand

RO/DI Unit:
OK, nothing much I can do now but to change the membrane and hook up my DI unit at the same time and hope it works.

Existing 5-stage RO Unit:

DI Unit Add on â€"œ new hook up:

I let a couple gallons flows onto my floor drainage just to ‘flush’ out the filters for any debris and after 2 hours, I tested the water quality :D

RO/DI Test Results

RO/DI Test Results

TDS Result from Tap:

TDS Result from RO Unit with new membrane:
TDSResultRONew.jpg

My TDS results from my RO output have come down from previous 39ppm…. Can’t seem to get it lower than 6ppm thou’ Hope this will not mean my DI resin will be exhaust a lot faster LOL

TDS Result from DI Unit:
TDSResultDI12Sept.jpg

But what’s important is after going through my DI, the result is zero!

Will test this weekly for the initial 1 month to see if there is any problems with the unit/ filters/ set-up and then maybe will test it bi-monthly only :p

All there is left now for me is to release my existing 200L RO water from my storage container and refill with new DI water!!

I will continue to use the 200L of SW, which is prepared already in storage, and slowly change over with DI water with my weekly WC….

WOW that is an unusual table shape for being in captivity as long as it has. Typically you see that shape initially and then it blooms into a afro ball.

I think keeping it in lower lights help keep it in shape as it restrict growth :p

I was just checking out your tank Erik and sorry about your losses. But I can see an even better tank in the making.... :D Love your sump

NEW ARRIVAL…..!!

NEW ARRIVAL…..!!

OK, more exciting updates!! YES, now that the Olympics games is over, the security restriction is more relax and things in China are getting back to normal.

So, got a call my LFS and a cultured shipment from Indonesia/ Bali have finally arrived. However by the time I reach there, another reefer was already selecting the best pieces out and left only 4 pieces which think it’s acceptable :fun5:

They felt bad for me and gave me two pieces of bleach/ RTN Acro for free to see if I can save it but I doubt, as it’s pretty much a goner :rolleye1:

DIPPING PROCESS……
All went into a 10min Coral Rx dip and removal of as any crabs as I can find. Good thing too as I found one gorilla crab amongst those Acros…

Acro SPS 4
I think this is a Firecoral or some sort of Montie or even Porites but I’m leaning toward a Montie? Any thoughts?

If it’s a firecoral, any advice on placement will be great??

Hot Pink Samarensis

This piece I know, as it’s quite common but love the colors it gives to my tank…

Temporary place them all onto the sand bed and lower rocks and will move them around once they have settle in.

Oh yeah and I threw out the two ‘bleach’ Acros they gave me LOL

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

Water parameter results for this week……

➢ Temperature â€"œ 26.1 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.11 (Light off)
➢ NO3 â€"œ 2 (Salifert â€"œ same as last week. Don’t know why it’s not continuing to come down?)
➢ dKH â€"œ 7.5 (API test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8.0 (Elos test kit â€"œ 0.5 dKH higher than last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 420 (Salifert test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 400 (Elos test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 960 (Salifert test kit - drop from last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1050 (Elos test kit â€"œ drop from last week of 1250)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.03 (Salifert â€"œuntraceable)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.03 (D&D PO4 â€"œ continue to come down from last week 0.045)
➢ Potassium â€"œ380 (stable)

With my dKH at 8, I need to bring up my Ca a little to the 420 range to be closer to NSW…other than that, params seem good!! â€"œ now let’s hope it keeps that way!

However, my Cyano seem to have return on the rocks…I think some of my rocks are still spitting out Phosphate :eek2:
