I plan on having two returns coming down through the eurobracing hooked up to flow accelerators, identical to your set-up.

Brad, what is flow accelerators?? Penductor you mean or some sort of add pumps??

pulse length and power is dependent on the length of the tank.

the longer the tank the longer pulse it will need but they can move just as much or more water than a Wavebox if dialed in right.

set both pumps to be Synched then set pulse mode 80% or so power and then hit the button again to set the length of the pulse (this is most important step take your time) start with the very shortest pulses and slowly over the course of 5 or 6 minutes make the pulse longer eventually the tank will be rocking back and fourth, the trick is to make the pulse just long enough to push the wave to the other side of the tank, it comes back on its own then the next pulse pushes it back to the other side.

too short a pulse and you wont get a wave too long a pulse and the same will happen but when you dial it in to work with the tanks internal resonance it works great and moves serious water.

I've seen them referred to as penductors, eductors, and flow accelerators. Sorry for the confusion.

Now for a follow-up question, you drilled 1" holes in your eurobracing. Even 1/2" bulkheads (at least those here in the states) require 1 1/4" holes. I'd rather not drill anything bigger than a 1" hole in the bracing.

Thanks.

Thanks Brad - sorry as I was familiar with Penductor or Eductor only....hehehe

However a word of advice, if you are planning to used them on your returns, I would ask you reconsider as by the time you drill an anti-siphon hole on your return, your penductor will restrict the flow and the hole you drill for the anti-siphon will act as a venturi on your water surface. :)

However, penductor work great for close-loop. In your case, you can used a pump (something like Ehiem 1262 - small and silence) and place it on the external overflow and hook a Penductor at the end will give you plenty of flow!!

Let me know if you got any questions.... :)

Thanks Nick, will play around with it more and see how it can sync with my wavebox and Streams

TUNZE MULTI CONTROLLER…..!!

TUNZE MULTI CONTROLLER…..!!

I decided to get the Tunze Multi Controller and not used my Profilux to control my 2 x Stream 6201 as I think it’s easier to control/ adjust as I hate the fact that I have to hook up my MacBook Pro laptop to make any minor changes to the flow, not to mention booting into Bootcamp each time just for this purpose :D

Yes I know….I’m THAT lazy !!

TunzeMulti-Controller01.jpg

TunzeMulti-Controller02.jpg

With this controller, I have the options to add more Tunze Streams for directional flow (maybe the new Streams 6105 coming out year-end) easily in the future once I have more corals!!

TunzeMulti-ControllerAcessory.jpg

Comes with the following accessories…

Will hook it up this coming weekend and played with both my Vortech and Tunze controllers to give me that ultimate FLOW!!

Meanwhile, my Stream is still out of service so only running with 1 x Stream, 2 x Vortech and Wavebox :eek2:

I have sent the non-working Stream back to my distributor here in China so hopefully I can have it back by early or mid next week!!

RO/DI…..!!

RO/DI…..!!

OK, now that I have fix my lights issues, my flow issues so now that’s left is my water issue….not really an issue but I finally gave in and decided to add a DI filter to my existing 5-stage RO unit.

DI Cables and accessories:

DIFilterAcessory02.jpg

Initially I could not find a supplier here in China that carries it and was planning to order online but the shipment cost from US cost as much as the unit itself !! :eek2:

But finally I found one online locally so hopefully it works. Love em’ wordings on the box; “Brings Pureness to All Families” :p

Also pick up myself a portable TDS unit so now I can check my RO and DI output accordingly to see when it’s time to change my filters :D

TDSMeter.jpg

Got quick questions?? Do any of you bother to calibrate your TDS unit (or used it right out of the box) and if yes, what’s the recommended time you do each calibration and how do we do that, as I’ve not seen any calibration fluid for TDS, apart from Hanna?? Contemplating if I should get the fluid or it’s waste of $$??

Look like I will have a busy weekend to hook up my controller and my DI unit

Have you decided on a bulb combo yet ED?

Yes, went with Option 1. Wanted to go with Option 3 but don't have Giesemann Midday in stock :rolleye1:

MORE SALT …..!!

MORE SALT …..!!

Got some delay in my shipment of RBS to mid Oct so have to order another bucket of TMPro to hold me over as I’m down to my last bucket :eek2:

what are your thoughts on the vortechs after using them for a couple days?

Lov em' Vortech as they the flow is much wider and they don't blow directly into my corals like Tunze.... :D

Not to mention the easy maintenance of the wet side pumps :p

Broken Tunze is send back to the distributor so hopefully I will get it back next week

FROM THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

FROM THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

OK, sharing with you guys some local corals here…

YES, this piece of Acro and a LPS - Acan or Blasto (not sure) are from one of the islands here in South China….got them dirt cheap and it’s good colony size too :frog:

AcroLocal02.jpg

AcroLocal01.jpg

Colors not out yet but you can see a slight purple tip on the new growth â€"œ any idea for ID guys??

BlastoMicro02.jpg

BlastoMicro01.jpg

This LPS has a mouth in each head (like a Acan/ Blasto) but the head size is as small as a Zoa polys only. My best guess is a Blasto of some sort, maybe a Blastomussa Merletti??

The LFS have no clue what it was so it was sold to me as Zoa!!

Hitchhiker

Hitchhiker

FingerLeather01.jpg

FingerLeather02.jpg

Seem to have a small Finger Leather Coral hitchhike onto it :lolspin: Do you guys think I should leave it or remove it?? Very short polys unlike those Mushroom Leathers I see but the color is a little dull…

Never keep leather before and not sure if it will do well in an ULNS like mine?

Now I need to find some colorful Acans to place on my bottom rock scape and some Scolymia on my sand beds :crazy1: however, don’t get those here very often unfortunately…anyone want to send some my way?? :wavehand:

WHO’S NAUGHTY?

WHO’S NAUGHTY?

Meanwhile someone been chowing down my mushrooms rocks….now only left are bare rocks :eek1: biggest suspect is my Rabbitfish or my Blue-legged Hermits but yet to caught anyone red-handed :rolleye1:

Saw my Blue-legged Hermit on the mushrooms rock a couple of times but not sure if he is simply glazing on the algae’s or eating them mushrooms…

Any thoughts??

I have a lot of different shrooms and rics. And tons of red and blue leg hermits. They never bother them. Only thing I have had that chowed down on the mushrooms were some starfish and long spine urchins. Needless to say they didnt stay in the tank to long.

how much did those corals cost you in USD? just interested what something like that goes for in China.
