Hey Ed, we have not seen any FTS latley!

Nothing much to show yet Sandy as I lost quite a fair bit of my corals in my Ich and PO4 battle :eek2:

Could my Tuxedo urchin do this??? Hmmm never thought he was the suspect??
Could be. I dont trust and urchins anymore.
Just set up a video camera to record directly to a VCR. You should be able to record for about 6 hours on a vhs tape. Then just scan through the tape when you have time. Youll catch the culprit.

Thanks - too much trouble to set-up a video camera....might just ban him to the sump and place a cheap piece of cheap mushrooms there and see what happens :D

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

Water parameter results for this week……

➢ Temperature â€"œ 26.2 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.09 (Light off)
➢ NO3 â€"œ 2 (Salifert â€"œ same as last week)
➢ dKH â€"œ 7.5 (API test kit â€"œ same as last week - start changing to yellow on 7 drop and completely yellow on 8 drop)
➢ dKH â€"œ 7.5 (Elos test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 420 (Salifert test kit â€"œ up 20ml from last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 400 (Elos test kit â€"œ up 10ml from last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1230 (Salifert test kit - went up from last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1250 (Elos test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.03 (Salifert â€"œuntraceable)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.045 (D&D PO4 â€"œ continue to come down from last week 0.06)
➢ Potassium â€"œ380 (stable)

Overall happy with the water params with my PO4 continue to travel South!! My Cyano have completely disappeared and all corals are looking happy once again!!

Will no longer be using my dKH Salifert test kits from next week onwards and only stick to Elos and API for dKH.

Now for some TDS results:

TDS Result from Tap:

Not too bad â€"œ don ‘t know the National standards or what other countries get for their TDS but for me, I think it’s pretty good

TDS Result from RO Unit:

TDSROWaterSept7.jpg

Hmmmm…something wrong with my RO unit as it’s not filtering out anything. I just change all filters a month ago. After checking, I think my membrane might be damage somehow… Will order a new one and re-test again….

That could explains the high PO4 issues I was having!!

DI unit not hook up yet but will find some time next week to do this once my replacement membrane is here!!

I want some Chinese tap water! :D 380 over here in the UK.
Glad to know its not just us Americans that drink tap soup.

If your tap water is 40, your RO should bring it down to 1 TDS, and the DI to 0.

Remember, when you test let it run for a solid minute or two, then take a sample in a clean dry cup and test.

If your RO/DI system has a taste filter on it, remove it. That is there to add TDS to the water because DI tastes so bad.

I think that one coral is a blastomussa, maybe micro blastos / or micromussa. The leather is commonly referred to as a Colt coral, and will extend the polyps more if the flow isn't too great on the coral. I used to have one in my 29g, and really liked it.

do they purify the water before it gets to you?

I live in an apartment Nick but yes, the government do purified the water prior to coming to our taps

Thanks Marc - I suspect my membrane is out as I've just change all the other filters and my RO output still shows such high TDS!! I've order a new membrane and will posted results after the change....

Thanks for the ID - so far the polys are short - could be too much flow he is getting :rolleye1:

If you have the ability to remove the tubing before the DI (didn't you just add it add-on style?), test the TDS right after the membrane. Post your results first. It may only need the DI changed. Membranes last years, not months.

Marc, Di unit not hook up yet so the test was for the RO output only. Intend to installed it like yours with a T for the RO (for drinking) but will do it once my membrane gets here so I can hook up the DI together

Without DI, and if there is no post filter (ie: taste filter), I guess your membrane may need replacing after all.

That or the current one isn't seated fully in the housing.

I guess so or this 'made-in-china' stuff just don't work :eek2:

Damn..only wish shipment from US to China was not that expensive :( as I can then get one of those super Melev's RO/DI unit (any way cheaper to send my US postal maybe Marc??)
