Eric's 300Gal Build!

how long are you going to QT? do you use any prophylactic treatments?

4 weeks - Im just doing hypo salinity for now. This is my first time putting fish through a quarantine process so before I get myself overwhelm with all the different methods and medication Im going to the most basic method and inspect the fish after the 4 weeks.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys but work is keeping me busy and don't have much time but the tank is doing great so far… I took a quick video today of the fish attacking the nori, hope you guys enjoy it. I should have some free time in a week so I will be taking some more detailed pictures and sharing them with everyone here.

I took the camera out today and tried taking a few pictures of some of the corals in the tank and I definitely need more practice. The camera just doesn't like the blue light.

Anyways here they are, I do have a question. All my SPS seem to be doing okay in terms of color and growth but some don't have much polyp extension. What could be the cause of this?

Orange branching frogspawn

A few more pictures

Here is an updated picture of a red monti I added back in January.

Nice pics and build. I'd be too afraid to get the scalpel by hand transporting tangs like that. Yikes!

You know, the tail spike they use when mad or afraid as self defense/offense? I hear they're painful

Eric:

Be careful with this magnetic clip. There is a thread somewhere on the forum about them rusting.

I'll keep an eye on it but the magnet seems to be well sealed and I don't leave it in the tank. I take it out and rinse it off after they finish eating the nori. Thanks for the heads up though.

Here are a few pictures of some corals from this afternoon.

Purple polyp birdsnest and to the right you can see a section of CITR Red Dragon frag I got from John aka Copps!

Hollywood stunner or Fire Lamollosa

This is a mini colony of Blue Tenius acropora that I got yesterday it just needs to color up.

Acan frag

Toxic green tort mini colony

This is a before and after of the same colony from when it was introduced on Feb 26 of this year.

Have you tried a little reef frenzy to stimulate the corals? I have been running AI Hydra LEDs for over 2 years and have shown a constant polyp extension. Even new frags I add extend within minutes.

No I haven't but I'll give it a try. Do you mix it with the food when you feed the fish?

You're welcome, not to say that is a fix but we'll see. I also noticed most if not all my corals with full polyp extension for almost 24hrs. I would check your other parameters like salinity and pH.
