ESV Salt Ratio's

So it's been a few months using my new ESV Salt so I thought I would chime in with what I have been doing.

First off, I started using Bio-pellets in my tank so I have dropped my ALK down a bit for it. Currently, I am trying to stay at an ALK level of between 8 and 8.5 max with daily manual dosing. With that said, I also found my Mag was very low (1280) from my previous salt (Red Sea Coral Pro) so I also compensated a bit on that as well.

So far this has worked well for me for exactly 5g@1.0264 420-440 CA / 8.3-8.4 ALK / 1440-1480 MAG

Sodium Chloride - 1 1/2cups + 2 Tablespoons
Magnesium Sulfate - 1/2cup + 2 Tablespoons
Part A - 189ml
Part B - 95ml

I believe that the owner of ESV does not recommend 'tweaking' the formula, and that components A&B are not the same as ESV 2 parts (1&2)...

Fwiw, I never said that components A&B were the same as ESV's Ca and Alk dosing liquids. That being said, I think they're very similar. I've tested water without and then with A and B and they attribute most of the Ca and Alk. Also, I too have heard that ESV didn't recommend tweaking the formula, but that's all I've ever heard with no explanation..? Right now, I'm taking Randy Holmes-Farley's post (#28 in this thread) into account: "I personally wouldn't worry about changes of 5% or less. 10% starts to be more of a concern if it is shorting something significant, such as potassium." My potassium levels are acceptable (I dose Potassium anyway as well), I do wonder about Iron at times though (I've never tested for it).
