Etiquette or No?

When we lived in Connecticut we lived on a busy street. Occasionally I would get people stopping and saying I see the blue glow. Made some pretty good reefing friends from that.
 
Our back neighbor met us at the mailbox and asked about the renovations we were doing ( different story ). We invited her over and when she saw the tanks, her comment was 'We thought you were growing plants' !
Knock on the door and say you couldn't help noticing the glow and tell them you are a reefer too!
 
I live in a very rural setting way up on a hill off a back road, and you can't not see the glow coming thru the first floor windows as you drive past at night.
I know most of the county sheriffs, and they've told me over the 17 years I've been up here they've actually had people mention it to them.
 
My last house lit up the entire culdesac. I was up on the plateau in golden and you could see it from the highway 2 miles away :lol:

360gal without a canopy that had 4x250w halides, 4x54w t5s, and 2x160w vho super actinics. Windows everywhere...

Crap, John I forgot all about your cabin! I'll box it up today and get it on its way.

Reef tank Cover story..
 
I was out for a walk one evening and saw the reef beacon coming from a house. The owner happened to be outside so I stopped and started chatting with him. Within minutes I was inside looking at the tank.

Reefers are like that. ( From what I understand, both types of reefers are like that. I have no personal experience with the other kind )

I live in a townhouse and get people asking about my tank all the time. I've had quite a few pizza delivery people and the UPS guy in to look. Had one guy come knock in the evening and said he couldn't help but notice the blue lighting from blocks away, turns out he had a tank in the area too so I ended up going and checking it out. Now I have a tank sitter. :)
