Hop,

I've seen a member here run his ER like that. He had 2 pump unit where he made one pump a re-circ and one a feed. Both had NW's. So I have seen it work, but I don't know about efficiency.

HTH

Hop, the reason you had consistency problems with the MRC is because... well... it is an MRC. I used to run a MR-2 and a MR-6 and both of them were insanely inconsistent and they would go crazy filling a 5 gallon collection bucket a few times a week. Switch to a high quality NW and you'll never look back.:)

Travis: Shhh! I'll still need to sell the MR-3 w/ all the upgrades for a decent price:)

I was set on a Deltec, but with Euro's announcement of upgrades and new implementations in September(ish), I'm holding off until I know for sure. I really like what I've been reading in here, so I wait open minded:D

So for now I'm researching calcium reactors and will implement one on my tank soon and look for the skimmer upgrade in the late summer/early fall.

I'm just trying to do the planning out of the way as I'm going to be doing some mods to the wetroom to accommodate the new skimmer and the rest of the equipment that will be coming down the pipe.

Thanks,

Just got a new cs-12-1 (it's a new - old model) anyone know how hard it is to make it an rc? Looks like 3 holes, 3 uniseals, and a little pipe. The inlets are 3/4" but the venturi is slightly smaller maybe 5/8"? Anyone know for sure? Whenever I start something that looks so simple, it never is!!!

Euro Reef if your watching how much for ER to do the mod?

I'm wondering now if I have a strong enough pump feeding into the skimmer. I have a Mag5 on it. It seems to be able to feed the skimmer okay. The bubble/water level is up into the neck of the skimmer.

"ER" do you have recommended pumps for the RC-500 skimmer?

Also, where do you all keep your bubble level at? Still looking for some help with this.

Thanks

Sorry, Reefer. Misunderstanding.

So you keep your bubble level just at the top of the opening of the collection cup.

Is that where most people keep it? Anyone??

I keep mine about 1"-2" from the top of the neck.

Jim,
Is that from the top of the neck within the collection cup?

Bemmer,

Whatever will provide you with 1 to 1.5 x the total system volume to the skimmer.

-ER :)

Okay, with that said, then a MagDrive 500 gph pump should work fine on a 450+ gallon system. Right?

I just do not get much skimmate out of the skimmer. I did the adjustment on the ball valve and I have the bubble level at about 1" from the top of the neck inside the collection cup. Is it possible there is not much to skim???? I now have six chromis, a female Lyrtail Anthias and a 7" male Crosshatch trigger in the tank. There is well over 200+ pounds of live rock in the tank and about 3" sandbed. I plan to add more fish to the tank over the next three to six months. Should I expect to see more skimmate?

Bemmer that is a very light bioload for the amount of water you have. The skimmer will still pull stuff out especially after feeding. You have an awsome skimmer just let it work it sounds like the set up is fine, it just need time with out adjustments....

Now I must ask again anyone know how I can turn my 12-1 into a recirc. I know the basic concept -I am loooking for measurments on pipe size, maybe a supplier, or ER contact info to get a quote? I think it would be better to gain from someone else's experience on this one. A mistake could be exspnsive....

skylar,

These parts will be available as a kit on our website next Tues, July 4th. If you e-mail and the online sales support dept, they can e-mail you links to the correct items.

Skylar,
Thank you for your response. I was hoping that was the case. My bioload will be increasing significantly as I start stocking the tanks more over the next several months. I appreciate your input. I will sit back and let it do its thing. Guess I only have to empty the cup a few times a week instead of once a day. ;)

I am interested in a CS135 and plan on placing it in a sump. The skimmer compartment in the sump that I have purchased has a water depth of 12 inches. What is the ideal water depth for this skimmer? This might have been answered previously in this thread - sorry if I missed it.

That is good about the euroreef My Cs 250 is sitting in 12" and its skims like no tomorrow. your good to go

i just wanted to post about my cs-80. this is my first tank in 10 years and man this thing is amazing. two months in and it's a dream. nasty skim and clean water. sweet.

Quick question for all the experts. I bought a ES 8-2 with the sedra 5000. I havent been able to get it to pull any skimate in a week. Ive followed euros advice and soaked pump in veniger solution and still no change., I just cant adjust the riser pipe enough to get the bubbles high in the tube. Im to the point of ordering a new pump but wanted to know if I should buy the sedra 9000 or would that cause a problem? its really not much more expensive so if it will be better Id rather get a bigger pump.
Whats yalls opinions or has anyone done this?thanks
