i just fed the tank and cleaned the glass and i killed the foam. so it is doing nothing. i'll wait to see what it is doing in the morning. hope it breaks in with in a few days

Saltywater - you don't hear of deltec users switching to ER's much. but that is cool to hear!! glad your back w/ ER's...they ROCK

Very nice skimmer Blue color :p
You don't have the new bayonet fitting? It looks like my ER fitting for taking the cup off. Maybe the neck is to small for it. Good luck with the new skimmer.

so it looks like the output from skimmer is above the input to the pump? Its hard to tell from pic. How bout one (pic) from right side.? Recirc w/ venturi input on the bottom and output on the top / outfeed in the middle? Beautiful skimmer though, has the lines of a ferrrari
DOG

Zoom - yeah like the blue cast that my 20k drapped on my skimmer...i had the hood open :D. i have a union type fitting but it is just like the bayonet but looks like a union. it only turns about 1/2 a turn and the cup comes off.

rivdog - yeah 60w will bake cookies but my 2x400w MH's on my 58gal will grow corals :D

the output is not above the input...but the "vent" tube goes all the way up to the top.

it is in the sump so pics will be hard to get now. right side?? there is nothing on there.

not sure what you are asking about w/ the quote "Recirc w/ venturi input on the bottom and output on the top / outfeed in the middle?"

it is purrrrddddddyyyyy :D hope it skims like it has a ferrari engine on it :D

From your unpacked photo, it looks like the output from the skimmer is between the 2 pump connections. The pump connections appear to be vent on the bottom and output to skimmer body on top. Im having trouble visualizing where that ball valve might be going. If you could see me pointing , youd know

it is at the same height as the bottom pump connection but angles back and towards the pump

the outlet is less the 45degrees away from the pump and the ballvalve is on the outlet pipe. the pump has the inlet (bottom) and outlet (top). they are seperate the pump and outlet or drain pipe

did u install the ball valve or is tth

did you install the ball valve or is thst the way it came. why not a gate ?

the ballvalve has to be on there it is a double union ball valve. Euro-Reef had decided to go w/ ball valves i believe. they are a nice ball valve but i'm not sure if i like them or not. we will see how easy it is to adjust the skimmate

derek - nope it's a ball valve

after 8-10hrs of running when i got up there was a nice brown layer of foam and a nice ring about 3" right below the union. water was WAY too low :D so i raised it up some and i'll have to wait for the upper part of the riser to break in an dsee what i get for skimmate

Lunchbucket

Weird, being as their updateing the line, I wouldn't think they'd take a step back and use a gate valve. It seems fine tuning is a big deal now with skimmers.

Derek - no sure why they decided to go w/ the ballvalve. i believe size might have played a role in the choice but i'm not sure.

i'll see how mine performs. right now it is been ok to adjust but i still breaking it in. the gate valve was easier though.

Lunchbucket

The Gate valve ER using now is super smooth they use a similar valve on the Deltec skimmers.
You will not have any problem adjusting the water level in any new ER skimmer.
