CS-250 update time!!!
My CS-250 has been up and running and skimming strong for 5 days now, so I though I'd let you all know how things are going.
I am very satisfied with the performance of this skimmer and I happy that I took the gamble to come back to the ER club! Like Jeremy stated in the RC-1000 thread in the PA forum, I don't think I've ever seen skimmate this dark before. Plus, my entire room reeks of rotten sea gunk...so I think I'm going to have to come up with a carbon-filtration rig or something to help manage the stench.
I've always performed weekly 10% water changes on this tank and have adequately skimmed from day 1, making it almost surprising that I've pulled as much nasty skimmate as what has been collected.
Other than the manufacturing glitch that I wrote about earlier, the build of this skimmer seems very solid, and the new & improved SP5 pump seems well matched to the 8"x30" body. The air intake valve is a nice feature and choking it off very slightly is (I believe) a big reason why I've been able to pull such nasty skimmate.
These pics were taken this evening (after 5 days worth of skimming). I didn't get much skimmate the first day or two while I was getting the water level set, but now, this beast is pulling vile gunk out at a very quick and consistent rate.
