We need more info/details on your setup...otherwise a simple search here on RC yields tons of diy ATO info

HI,

My 90G system evaporates 3-4 gallons a day, depending on time of.year. I suggest purchasing an auto top-off system, that and a refractometer are two of the best thing's you can purchase for your reef tank.

Cheers,

Or a entry level controller and float switches along with a ro/di unit

My 40g loses almost a gallon a day. Evaporation is not a bad thing. It keeps fresh water flowing into your tank.

Try my solution. My 350g system evaporates about 2-2.5 gallons per day. I let my wife add the top off water.:celeb3:

I'm not real sure what you are saying exactly here, but I wouldn't rely on top off to keep the water fresh since anything in the water gets left behind. Water changes are still a must no matter how much water you are topping off with.

I still change water regularly (10%/week). The top-off is a bonus.

Add a lid to the tank. Slow down flow through the sump. Switch from MH to LEDs.

Those should help.

You can slow it down but you wont ever be able to stop it. Lights, fans, skimmers ... all contribute to evaporation. construct an auto top-off system.

OK, but you have to pay the mileage.

stupid, stupid, stupid :headwally:

A simple float valve hooked to a bucket of water is a cheap way. How much water are we talking about Shokoy?

ok my tank is a nano 20g and i lose like 1 gallon half a day so my evaporation is really fast and i don't know why

oh so this evaporation is normal on saltwater tank thank you very much guys
thank you Reef Central for my problem

Top off daily will prevent large swings in salinity. An auto top off is nice, but doing it manually only takes a few minutes a day. It's one of the facts of maintaining a tank.
