EvolutionZ 65 SPS dominated shallow reef

Wow, hard to believe its the same coral! Even though I wouldn't call it a deepwater (whatever that term means in the first place) I think your colors are perfect to what it should be. I am very sad I lost mine and happy to see one with the great colors I got from it! Again, good job and looking forward to updates when things grow out.

Really nice! great coral collection!

Great looking corals

Thanks!

nice colors!

color still way worse then many pro sps experts here!

indeed! i saw it grow from what looks to be like intense green to paler with a little purple to it. when im free i'll dig out the growing pictuers and post them here.

Wow great color and PE from somebody relatively new to SPS. Looks like you're running out of space already! Congrats

Thanks! i am indeed running out of space!

Prior to this set up, i had a 9 gallon cube tank that made me decided to go full reef (i was in freshwater before). i kept this tank for 5 months before upgrading to the current one.

Amazing. I am so impatient to get my tank up and running again. seeing your pics makes it even worse. :-)

thanks! patients is key to the success in this hobby!!

what was your previous light fixture, and how are the SPS holding up with the razor fixture

sorry missed your reply, my previous light is a Maxspect G2 170w, great coverage (better than the razor) due to having no lenses and fixture being 32" long. but the color only had cool white, royal blue and violets. i bought a 2nd hand fixture and lots of leds are burning off one by one, decided to upgrade to the razor after using the g2 for just 1 - 2 months.

Some updates!

the "deepwater" seems tabling well!

SSC frag

mohawk zoas, one of my fav. really light hungry zoas! they are placed higher then most of my sps

frags area! this part receives the most light of all

green millie & acropora abrotanoides. i lost all the green in the abro!

red dragon, spreading really well now

bird nest area, birds of paradise, tri-color birdnest and pink birdnest. fastest growers of all

End this post with my sump tank. many people told me this wont work when i first started my tank. simply because its too small (its a 35x50x45 LxBxH) to be a proper sump tank. i chose the best skimmer i can get (deltec mce600) with the space constrain and still have space left for some chaeto and a FR along with my return pump and chiller pump. Planning to add DIY algae scrubber too.

thanks for viewing!

So ive took your advice on lighting intensity all is going well ive worked up to a max of 45w 65b, going to keep going would like to get to 65w 85b. Just bumping whit and blue a couple percent every 3-4 days.

its been more than 8 months since this tank was set up, from being a LPS/Zoas only tank to a SPS dominated tank! heres a few FTS showing progess throughout this 8 months.

at this moment, i got poisoned when i got my first few frags/colonies of SPS

Scape changed to accommodate more sps

corals growing really well..

this was taken today, removed the black background and used a penknife to scrap out all coraline/green algae. Loving the clean back look.. its making my tank looks much larger than the pic with the black background!

Excellent tank...I was wondering how high do you have the razor hanging above the water line? And also how high is the tank itself..reason I ask is I have the same light and I cant figure out how high I should mount it...

Nice job...sps look very happy.:bounce2:

Thanks! some colors are still not there yet!

Thanks! i have the razor 15" above water line. the tank itself is only 14" (36cm) tall.

Looks great! The top-down pics will be amazing when all those acros start to grow out of the water.

i cant wait for all those acros to grow out man!

Amazing tank love the birdsnests

thanks! they are one of my favorites too!
