Exciting news

2 different clutches of eggs now, that is pretty awesome! Next thing you know you guys are gonna be overwhelmed with trying to keep up with all the different clutches of eggs amd counting days, lol. Good problem to have though. If my snowflakes or phantoms ever lay eggs on something removable I will let you guys know since you're set up for them

Yes definitely excited...and hope we are overwhelmed...lol.

And let us know about your pairs for sure!

Our first clutch is hatching as we speak!! Capt is asleep, I'm awake and sooo excited. I won't be going to sleep for a while.

We have the Vossen Fry Catcher (see thread below) for the tanks in which we cannot remove the eggs.

So far there are 2 little babies swimming in it.
Lights have been off for 1-1.5hrs

So this means our clowns laid on a Monday and hatched the following Monday.

Woo! Congrats!

So I waited until 3:30am and there were still just a few fry in the catcher.

This morning the fry were gone and the rest of the eggs had not hatched.

We are thinking that the little LED light from the catcher may have prevented the rest of the eggs from hatching. We are going to move the catcher slightly away from the pot, and hope that helps.

Tonight will be day 8. Hope it happens tonight.

The lights have been out for about a half hour...just peeked in the tank...hundreds of fry swimming around! Turned on the light for the fry catcher...lets hope it works its magic!

Thats pretty sick..... love the day by day updates.... I'm surprisingly pumped for you guys as I have always wanted to do this myself.

Thanks everyone! It definitely is exciting. It's so cool to see them swim around. It's almost like they are floating, letting the water spin them upside down, then all of a sudden they dart forward so quickly (catching rotifers).

On a different note, in our display tank...One of the starfish started to crawl over the tomato's eggs. They each picked up one of his arms with their mouths and tried to move it. As much as I didn't want the starfish to damage the eggs, it was pretty cool to see their interactions.

This hobby never ceases to amuse and entertain me.
