Very nice, but impossible for me to do, Im afraid it'll block some of the light, and I think I dont have enough liight anyway.
What Im thinking of, is an Acrylic ring/crown to surround the whole tank.
 
jumping is a BIG problem and why I wont spend any more $$$ on fairies. bought a gorgeous scotts and was so nervous and uptight about it possibly jumping that I took it back after a few days and traded with the LFS for a crocea clam.Clams wont jump. I had a blue sided, one of the less expensive wrasses and one day out of nowhere it jumped into the overflow and got sucked down the durso and crushed by the pressure. very sad. but very beautiful and interesing fisf if you can cover the whole tank. every square inch
 
Hey guys need a quick answer anyone have any pics of a Fininius fairy wrasse? i am not sure if i spelled it right, but have a chance to get one and am wondering what they look like....

Some people just make up names for stuff... well most of us do.
For example I thought I was getting a "bakrubeverydayous", but I ended up with "plainoldwifeosaurous".

I have a question for you fairy lovers haha...

Since we are hearing about all this jumping.. and since eggcrate has holes, what about building a small glass or acrylic piece that stands maybe an inch above the water...that way it allows for cooling through this inch of space all the way around...and minimizes chances of the fish flying out... I have a eurobraced tank, with 1.5 inch glass all the way around the top, so I would just something that has 1 to 2 inch legs in each corner, and just sit that on top of the eurobrace....sure they could still jump out through this 1 inch, but at least it minimizes the chances.... then again, that would be a pretty damn big headache smacking your head into this glass flying 50 mph out of the water... OUCH!!

what do you guys think? I also have a canopy, so that would protect them from carpet surfing, but then again, they could get stuck on the canopy somewhere and not make it back to the water.

I dont have any fish or coral in my 120g cube yet.. but it is getting close...i saw someone ask about anthias and fairys... any comments?

I am thinking of Dispar anthias..

Do you think a fairy wrasse and a flasher wrasse together in a 40 gallon breeder reef tank would be okay? I already have teh solar fairy wrasse, so I'd be adding the flasher.

I have been thinking about center piece fish for a 120 gal BB tank. How would a mix like Paracheilinus carpenteri (Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse) or Filamented Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus filamentosus) mixed with a Cirrhilabrus such as Pink Margin Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus) . Is a harem advisable for each group? Could I put in more single species of Cirrhilabrus without the harem? Can I buy the usually cheaper females and wait for the largest in the group to be male like I did with the anthids (lyetail).

Some source say tangs and anthids are good tank mates if added after the wrasse is well established. Will they be O.k. with cleaner shrimp of small size?

Do they really make a cocoon out of snot?:confused: What happens to it during the day? Does it get...ummm...reused?

Yes they will be fine with cleaner shrimp and tangs and anthias as long as the tangs arent very aggresive

Only some create a cocoon out of a mucus film (not snot) The only wrasse I have seen do it was a parrotfish, which are a serprate kind of wrasse anyways. Its not a cocoon really its just a outer layer they shed around themselves that looks like a spider web.
 
It's Pseudojuloides severnsi. If you're thinking about buying one, know that pencils are a very sensitive group without a good survivial record. There was just a pencil wrasse thread a few days ago in this forum for experiences if you want to try one or at least learn more about this beautiful fish.
