female being awful to mate

i have a mated pair of black oc,s have had for a year in a 20 gal sps / lps system and recently she has kept him in one area and nipped at him i dont think she is trying to kill him but im not sure if this is normal after she nips him she twitches a few times the goes back to her frogspawn if he peeks his head out from behind the powerhead her she comes
