Female suddenly aggressive to male

Over the last 2 days I have noticed my female become increasingly agressive to our male.
They are maroon goldbars & have been together for around 2 years.
She has started pushing him away & chasing him. She is also keeping him from their cave.

Any ideas?
There have been no changes/additions to the tank.

Also, you might need to know, they do not currently have an anenome, as we can't seem to keep them for very long. I don't know what it is about anenomes, they'll be beautiful for months and then.... wake up one morning to their bodies on the sand? This has happened multiple times... It's terribly frustrating, maddening & sad. Anyhow, issue for another day, I suppose.

For now, I'm curious about Ozzy & Harriette and what could suddenly turn her against him.

Were they laying eggs? If you don't know, were they very aggressive towards you if you went near the cave?

Only trick I have seen that has worked, but did not for me is the bottle trick. You put the male in the bottle with a bunch of holes and than stick it front and center of the cave where the female has to look at him and deal with him. I would not let him out for about a week. The female will give up on attacking him eventually and hopefully the male bows down. Also only release at night time where things are more settle and leave the bottle in the tank for another day or so to simmer the female a little and let the male settle back in.

my female got real aggressive with my male and he started "shivering" a sign of submission. She's normal now and they get along great.

I've not seen any signs of eggs (bloated belly or courting dances).
I stay at home & watch the tank frequently, so I think this is something I would have noticed?

The male has always been very submissive to her and still is. He turns away from her and allows her to push him around.

Also, she is very aggressive when we put our hands in the water. Whether near her cave or not! She slaps with her tail and has even bit me a few times! lol
She is a naughty one. CONTSTANTLY shoving everything over. She will also pick up & move any crabs or snails if she doesn't like where they are. Bully to the only other 2 fish (blue damsels) in the tank, too. *sigh

Yea...sounds about right. When I had my GSM pair, the female would attack me whenever I had my hands in the tank. They were bulldozers with fins.

To me it sounds like she laid eggs and the male didn't do something right causing the female to get very mad. Your not going to really see any dance or anything out of the normal that signify's that she has laid eggs unless you actually seen them. Bottle trick is probably the only promising thing that you can do at this time.
