Finally Dragonvale's 50 gallon Starphire display cube journal

Its been awhile since I posted here. Tanks finally maturing since my stony corals are thriving finally! Sad part is I want to upgrade now LOL Been more into zoas/palys anyways and I'm two heads away from being complete. Actually one head after this JF order. Here's some eye candy for the zoa heads out there.

Pretty polyps! I started calling out individuals as particularly sweet but I think I like them all. Got some names for those? (besides "mine"?)

The third shot demonstrates the large impact of the frag plug background on the appearance of the polyp. The skirt looks different depending on whether it has a light or dark plug behind it.

I can't see any EXIF info on the shots but they look higher iso and closely cropped.

I also like how clean the sump area is--very organized.

Yes, very nice. All it needs now is salt creep and water stains. ;)

Well done Dragon.

Thanks Ken. Yes, the pictures were cropped to get an up close view of generally a single polyp. The third polyp was received two days ago and I noticed how translucent the skirts were. I'm thinking everything will darken up once acclimated to the MH. IS0 was at 1600 I think.

In need of one dosing pump so where the cheapest place to get it?

I could have cleaned it up more but I was lazy. I keep the dripper on the right since its my acclimation dripper just incase people are wondering why there is extra hosing. The pumps are aquahouse dosing pumps. Each one has individual timers and if power goes out it still remembers dosing you previously had it at. If interested I found the cheapest place to grab them.

Tanks is good for being gone for two weeks and relying on dosing pumps and a auto top off. Plus pre-made food bottles so my 5 year old daughter feeds every other day :)

A forrest fire and a green samarensis digi. I stuck them together to see if I could get some kind of graft. Only luck was that they didn't kill one another.

So next goal is to upgrade to a 125 long. Took the family out last weekend to look at tanks and my goal was to get a traditional 120 with the cherry hood with stand. It ended up being a 125 long with custom hood and expresso hood/stand that a deposit put down on. Not really a fan of narrow tanks but she wanted it so no argument here. Plus more swimming room for the tangs :) Just incase a 125 long is 72" compared to the traditional 120 at 48" but as you can see the long is narrow at 18.5".

I guess I'll have two tanks running while one gets established. Corals will be transferred over slowly through out the year. Thinking everything will be transferred over in DEC so no X-mas gifts for me. Anyone interested in the cube entire setup besides dosing pumps and auto top off let me know.

Nice upgrade =).. Saw your post looking for lights so your going with halides? Are you planning on supplementation also? Led?

I think the manufacturer of your current led strips is from a company called 21ledusa. They sell on eBay but the site is easier and more choices. They have some affordable light strips for that size if your interested check them out.

Awesome jason we are gonna be tank twins

Nice. When are you planning to grab your setup?

Yes, going to go with 250 digitals and throttle them down to 175. And yes supplementing them with the reefbrites. Man... saw the difference of what I got from them and the reefbar pro that they offer. Mine right now is 18 watts, their 24 inch reefbar pro is 72 watts for a 24inch. Here's the problem. I'd be throwing out lets say $240 for those and a reefbrite costs $352. Problem is the other LEDS are "as is" just looked through their warranty LOL.

50 Cube

50 Cube

How do you like the mp 10s in your 50 cube. I have the exact same tank. Looking to set it up in a few weeks

I'm not running mp 10's. There actually mp 40's at its lowest setting. I also have the smallest WP's running also. I'm sure two MP 10's would be great for this size tank.
