Ive always ran t5s since I set up my very first reef tank years ago. I always thought they were my favorite lights. I knew how good metal halides were, especially for an sps tank. I was, however, attracted to all the color combo possibilities of t5s. Overall I was simply convinced t5s were the way to go and they would be the only lights over any of my reef tanks. Well, after coming home from work last saturday to find my 6 bulb aquaticlife fixture had literally bit the dust, I am singing quite a different tune a week later. I was in panic mode because I had no backup light, and with all the very light demanding corals I have in my 125, I knew I needed a new light asap. It just so happened a guy in my local club put up a 72" 3x250w + 2x150w metal halide fixture with a monster external ballast. I ended up buying it the very next day and couldnt be happier. I cant get over how much better my tank looks compared to the t5s. The coral is responding really well also. I will never go back to t5s I absolutely love the shimmer and that crisp look provided by the mh bulbs. The fixture currently has 5 14k phoenix bulbs which are great, but its a tad on the white side. I think im going to replace the two 150watt bulbs with 20k radiums to get a bit more blue. I was doing a water change the other day and took some close ups, some top downs, and a fts. Dont mind the water level in the fts it was literally mid water change lol. Very nice colors Greg, looking very nice mate  Lots of SPS pics is always a good thing lol. Love the color of that clam, i need some clams but they're so bloody expensive i always ignore them for acros.
Not sure if a ballast for Phoenix bulbs will drive a radium, hopefully others can give you some advice in that regard.
I'm glad you're liking the halides, they do have a look that can't be replicated with other lighting but as with everything there are always pros and cons.

First of all great tank! Colors are very attractive.

Metal halides IMO are better than other lighting but LEDs are chosen because of long term cost. I have half halide half LED in 120. Growth is slightly better under halide. Better color in some corals with LEDs.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!! My fixture is set up similar to yours johnike- its also 5 bulbs- 250-150-250-150-250. I hope my ballast can run radiums biggles! I always hear that you cant beat radiums! I hear you on the clams biggles they are quite expensive but my gf loves them so i try to buy her stuff for the tank to keep her happy😎 we all know how important a happy mrs is in this hobby lol

beautifull!!
corals look super nice!
my advice would be to change the 250s to 20 k and keep the 150s at 14k..
I have noticed with my radiums that the 150s don't seem as blue as the 250s, for one and I also think that keeping the 3 x 250 14ks will wash out the 2 x 125w blues and you won't actually achieve the extra blue look you want.... just my 2 cents..
Love to see a shot of that fixture as well.. sounds like a beast!

Very nice pieces and start to your reef. I look forward to watching it grow in.

Brett7768- thanks for the clarification. Im not 100% sure what type of ballast I have but its a monster. Its external from the fixture and easily weighs every bit of 75 lbs. safe to assume that since I can run phoenix bulbs I should be able to run radiums?

Reefmutt- thanks for the kind words. I never thought of the 14ks washing out the 20ks but thats a very good point. I will try switching out the 250 watters for 20k and see how that does for me. The bulbs have about 6 months use on them so I should be able to get about 4 more out of them right?

Oldude- thank you for the compliment! Most of the pieces started out as very small 1/2" to 1" frags. The sanjays milka stylo has more than tripled in size in the last 6 months. I will dig up some old photos so I can show some growth times.

I do use photobucket but when im using the tapatalk app it doesnt allow me to upload from photobucket it comes right from my phone why does it matter
