Well, I haven't posted here much but With the house moving now, I guess I actually have something cool to post about, since my little tank is NOTHING to write home or anywhere else about :-P

Here's a pic of the footings...See the big rectangular footing near the back right? That's where the 1600g tank will be :-). I decided to wait till we get into the house and then form up for the tank pour so I can do it at my pace and not hold the house build up. Getting a 4x10 sheet of 1.5-2"" thick acrylic through one of those basement windows is gonna be fun though :-P

Hey Nookie- We're building in O'fallon, IL. It sickens me to think about all the tax crap we're gonna be dealing with but we budgeted for it so....oh well. I just can't wait to get out of this apartment!

Anyway, The footing is about 5x12. I decided on a 12 x 5 x 5 tank which is a little smaller than I was originally going to go with. Should be fun though :-)

I like that area of IL. I moved over here to MO for a job and only worked there for 2 weeks then quit. I'm probably gonna move back to IL when I finish school. Anyway, nice looking house so far. 1600 gallons is awesome!!

RiffRaff- I wouldn't call this a new build just yet :-P I've talked about doing this in the past so I figured I'd throw an update out there. The actual build process for the big tank won't start for another year or so...I've got some other new home projects to do first. I will however, start framing the form for the tank in about 6 months or so...

Dano- It's a perfect area but the state of Illinois is a trainwreck financially and we're the ones that are going to have to foot the bill for it. I'm already looking at over 8K a years in property taxes and it'll prolly go up!

Japsican- Thanks! Here's what it's supposed to look like when it's done:

Heya Mark!! Glad to see you're back brutha :-) We need to get the old crew back together for pizza some time soon :-)

So here's an interesting tidbit....This is a monster calcium reactor that is currently running on a friend's 19,000 gallon tank. The body is 18" diameter and it's about 5' tall. He's going to build a different reactor so we're going to build a skimmer with this one since the bare bones are already there ;-) I'm looking forward to seeing how this comes together...

Wow, looks like an awesome house! Love the future skimmer too:thumbsup:

I figured I would update the thread with some progress pics...We're inching toward our closing date of May 6th. I have to admit that I'm a little skeptical about them finishing it by then but they've got some amazing crews and usually get things done quickly and efficiently...We'll see...

Thanks! It's pretty exciting but were getting extremely impatient with our current living conditions(small apartment) so this house couldn't possibly be finished soon enough :-P

More pics as of yesterday afternoon:
