Just acquired my first ever Marine Betta. I've heard they're a bit cryptic and sometimes difficult to get eating commercial foods. Anything else I should be aware of? It's amazing how little information I could find on these guys.
I've had my marine Betta over 3 years. He swims out in the open. Has never eaten any fish or shrimp. Eats pellets / flake . Has survived two tank crashes doesn't bother anyone.
I've had my Betta about 12 yrs, got him from a friend that had him 5 yrs... I rarely see him eat (tank is fed multiple times a day with flake, pellets and Frozen mysis) but he's alive and doing great, doesn't bother any of the many much smaller fish that are in the tank with him.
Hope my guy is of a similar demeanor as yours as he’d be going into a DT that contains a Bell’s Wrasse ($$$) which is coincidentally about half its size.
True to form so far, he's been hiding a lot and not eating. At least not eating the usual fare (mysis, both PE and Hikari, LRS, Enriched Brine...). Asking that question about acquiring ghost shrimp again.
Check/call any of your local stores that sell freshwater. Most places sell them as a feeder shrimp and the LFS I used to work at would sell them on the order of $0.22 a piece. A big box store near me has them too and sells them for $2.50 a piece.
have always had at least one in my tank over the past 20 years. Currently have a pair. I do extended amounts of time with moonlights, or just actinic to give him a chance to have some time to themselves with out the crowd. NEVER had one eat any fish, never had to work to hard to get them to eat. They seem to find a way to get by without much, and eventually eat most foods. I add them early to the tank when there is little competition and they are awesome.

You can get it at LFS. Fresh water feeder shrimp.
I recall that you have a large tank. I would not worry about it. He will be just fine hunting. They hunt at night and will get plenty of food in largish tank.
