I finally filled the 90 gallon today, woohoo. Thanks to 8Ball's plumbing skills and John's loan of his big water barrels. I'll take a few pics tomorrow when the water has cleared up a bit more.

LOL only a month short of the 1 year tank warranty running out.

That was one big load of water I saw you hauling from John's yesterday. When you got it home did you unload it by yourself?
Looking forward to the pics.

Mariner the crew at CRA was fabulous and lent me a 20 foot length of python hose and a spare pump and I pulled the truck right up to my front door and pumped all the water into the sump and tank. It took one more trip with another 2 barrels to finish her off.

The water has just about cleared up so pictures coming soon!

Dont forget to adjust your overlfow drain to the height you want! To low in the overflow it will be loud.. To high, well you know haha. Glad to hear you got it going. Just think at the 1 year mark you should be ready for coral and fish. :) Did you get your lights together yet?

I finally took a couple of pics. I've been messing with the rock and am mildly happy with the right side but definitely need to do something on the left. I have several large rocks with coral that will be going in when the water is ready so i'm trying to leave some room for them. Black background will be applied this weekend and there is a canopy that goes on top as soon as i'm done moving things around.

Sweet tank! The sump looks sharp. What size is it and where'd you get it?

I'm like you with my aquascape.... just have half the rock in there for now...trying to make it look decent for the time being... not sure how it'll turn out.

Mariner the sump is a 30 long and I got it from CRA, turns out Will built it.

I've been patient so far, I've added Thera-P twice now and stability daily as well as about 20 gallons of water from the other 2 tanks. Chaeto and a few pieces of LR in the refugium, just waiting for the cycle.

The tank is coming along nicely!
What fish is that? Some kind of sleeper goby?
You should name him Moby...Moby the goby.
I've got a gramma named Osama...Osama the Gramma.
Are you going to do anything to cover the back of your tank or just leave it clear? I like black backgrounds myself, which is convenient because the back of the 135g is black.
:D I went with clear on my 75g for awhile when it was first set up. Eventually had a friend paint a reef scene to put back there; but since the back has been covered with rock and coralline for awhile, I haven't actually seen the painting in years.

Thank you Mariner and Dbarker!

He's a yellow headed sleepy goby, i've just been calling him "big fish" but I do like Moby for him.

I was planning in doing the back of it black but at the meeting last week several people told me to just leave it as the coralline and such would cover it. I'm feeling impatient though and have decided to paint it, I don't like to see the wires and wall through it. What kind of paint should I use? LOL maybe I should get a couple shades of purple and make my own coralline ;)

So are your lights in your Canopy?
Well I spray the back of mine with Plastic spray paint.. But since your tank is up and running that could be hard to do :)

The lights are in the canopy but not attached to it. I mounted the retrofits to 1 x 2 and then put 1 x 2 braces on the ends of the canopy. The lights sit on the braces so I can move them around or take them out if needed. I'll take a pic and show you. I'm happy with the way it worked out.

That actually sounds pretty cool.
On my 40g I just covered the back with black poster board...scotch taped it to the frame. But everyone's right; in a few months you won't be able to tell what's back there anyway.

You can also get a black plastic background from Petsmart or some place like that and use baby oil to stick it on the back of your tank. This is a trick that John told me. This way you don't have to worry about the effect of paint fume. I have one in the back of my 75G planted tank - mine is just taped in place, though.

I have the black plastic stuff on the backs of my other 2 tanks but haven't been able to find it tall enough for this tank.

I seriously might try doing a small area with craft acrylics in a couple shades of purple and a bit of black and see how it looks. By small area I mean 4x4 square so if it's nasty I can easily scrape it off with a razor blade.
