I don't understand why people are saying they should be culled...

Thanks for this comment. Indeed, it was just a mood of the nature to let them look like, what they are.
On this board, these comments are so completely different.
I don´t know, what is so scary. Why to call them zombies, etc.

They are more than unique.
There was nobody so far, who saw them in real life and did not like them. Everybody says, they are really beautiful.

I agree, with this kind of pictures, I took them all with my cell phone, they might look a bit weird. But that will change in a shop, especially if they are displayed under metal high lights.
I am going to organize a metal high light, to see there behaviour under so much light. I was told many times, it won´t harm them and they won´t hide. So far, they never hide, even when I took pictures with a flash.

I really would like to know, if the people who wrote the very negative comments, would admit later after they bought a pair of these ugly, dead, scary zombies.

On the 23rd of October, the IMACSA 2009 will take place in Cape Town. The albinos will go on display for the first time in public.
Anthony Calfo and Julian Sprung will lecture at this event.
Let´s see what they think about beauty/scary/etc.

I will keep you guys updated about the outcome of this event.
And I will post much better pictures asap.

We keep lots of animals in this hobby that are ugly, and still love them. But that doesn't make them any less ugly :)

I bet they will sell for a lot and very quickly.

Never overestimate the intelligence of the average American consumer... I'm sure they'd fetch even better prices in Japan.

I do not find them visually stunning but as always there will be collectors prepared to pay big bux for the rarest of the rare.

I am aware of the fact, that I would get the best prices in Japan.

But how the hell can I make contact over there?

Does anybody have an idea or contacts in Japan?

Thanks guys

IDK. Why not try contacting some wholesalers or distributors over there. They're likely to have import licenses....
That said, You might want to try the market over here first to see how they really do.

I'm sure there are Japanese people reading this thread, and linking it on their forums saying "hey, check this out!" the same way we are over here. If they become a hit over here, people will contact you to sell them in Japan.

The thing is, the japanese should pay the best prices, then the americans, europeans/asians and at last countries like south africa.

The retail price here in south africa are really low.
Almost every clown goes here for 8 to 15 USD. Depending on the size.
My LFS had really nice allardis, 4 to 5 cm for only 8 USD.

I guess, the albinos will be sold in South Africa around 2011 or 2012.

How to find wholesaler or the hobbyist in Japan?
If you google it, you can´t read a word, just japanese signs.
I tried it many times.

Wont be able to house them with anemones or corals unless someone wants them to get mutation of the genes (cancer).

I must admit..I LOVE THEM. They are the same "everyday" clown but with a pastel type color. I think there are some haters on here for sure. Imagin the crosses.

Out of curiosity, were the eggs white? I have a pair of spawning occs but no matter how well I feed them the eggs aren't orange. They do develop normally though, I just haven't tried raising the larvae.

It looks like something from a low quality pet store, sorry.
I don't think this is quite fair. You may like or dislike the albino coloration, but there is no argue that these fish are essentially perfect in shape. I don't see any deformity at all, not even mild flare gill. For sure these fish are well breed and care for. I think the masterbreeder deserve credit and any financial reward they may bring.
Good luck masterbreeder

I think they look much nicer than the snowflakes that look like they got dipped in acid or something. Definately different strokes for people.

LOL, some people are pretty harsh. To each his own.
