I tell you what: instead of putting you through the embarrassment that would, no doubt, result from me showing up at your doorstep, I will post my guess in the form of a picture. Tell me if this looks like your house:
I'll be booking my ticket to your front porch shortly...

I'm not expert on Deltec, but I set mine up so that the water level with the pumps OFF, comes up to the top of the black neck. I can remove the collection cup and not have any water overflow from the skimmer. I needed to close the output valve a little to achieve this level. With the skimmer pumps running, I've set my air intake valves at the 2 o'clock position and the skimmer seems to be doing a great job. My installation was inspected and approved by LUNCHBUCKET.
Everyone in this hobby is entitled to 1 free mistake. Yours should be an easy fix. Here are a couple of shots of mine. I had to raise the skimmer up a little to be able to get the intake and returns above the sump level. The return from the skimmer empties into the sump above the foam section of the sump, thus eliminating any bubbles going into the sump or refugium sections. Your situation is a little different since your skimmer is a distance from your sump, but it appears from the photos that your skimmer return should be above the top of your sump/refugium.Originally posted by cbui2
i made a mistake, the skimmer return to the sump has 1" pvc surbmerge below water level causing the water from skimmer not to return to sump therefore no water was return to sump and making the skimmer non functional. thanks i will re adjust the air intake again couple days later.
Why are you using only two Eheim pumps? What happend to the third?Originally posted by Goodwin9
My skimmer return is submerged too and it works fine. I am confused why yours does not work. Was your skimmer overflowing?Originally posted by cbui2

I do have 3, the third is locaded below the return line in the second picture. I have the AP1003 which a 4th pump can be added which would make it the 1004. I would think that by submerging the return line in the sump, you would restrict the flow out of the return from the skimmer.Originally posted by mcrist

It may restrict it a little but I am already restricting the flow with the ball valve on the exit pipe.Originally posted by Goodwin9

It looks like to me that the return from the skimmer is running at least 12 feet, if not further, to the sump in the pictures on the previous page. It appears the the baffle that is pictured in the sump has the return from the skimmer coming in and looks like to me it could be a foot under the water level. If this is the case, if I remember right, water takes the path of least resistance which might make it easier to go out the top of the skimmer, rather than into the sump. Again looking at the pictures, it would seem to me that it is going to be an easy fix to move the line going into the baffle section over to the right and empty it above the foam in the sump.Originally posted by mcrist

I didn't relize the AP1003 had the fittings for a forth pump. Way cool I should have bought that one.

PS: The "NOG" in the collection cup is from 1 days skimming.
This skimmer is on my 470, I would guess a medium load, but what do I know? Here is a live view of the tank for your call on the load...Originally posted by Sparkss
Is that on your 470g or 210g tank ? What is your bio load like ?
We get easily that much on our medium loaded 380g in 12 hours (ising a different skimmer), which is why I am asking.. Thanks.
This model of skimmer only came with three pumps, has the ability to add the 4th to make it the same model Bart is using on his tank. With just 3 pumps, it is rated up to 1300 gals normal stocking, 900 gal heavily stockedOriginally posted by tcmfish
It also looks like you took one of the recirculation pumps off the skimmer Goodwin9?
