water clearing up real good and reactor is kicking in too. i have it dial in about 700gph just tumbling around the media and trying not to stir it up. i had to shut down my skimmer since there was nothing left to skim.:D except the water
I'd think that you should have your skimmer running 24/7, with fish in the tank and feedings, there is always going to be skimming that needs to be done IMO.

Holy snails, batman! I had to re-look at that pic just to try to count them! Excellent work done so far - definitely an inspiration (and a manual?) for creating a large reef! I can't wait to see pics of this tank mature!

I been reading your thread sance first day wonder when teh water is coming in and I can see it now, you have one of the most good looking rock work and sistem, enjoy it after all that work.

Those Deltecs are definitely nice for their small footprint and head room requirements, but they draw a bit more wattage than I think is necessary for whay they produce... but that is just my opinion. Of course they only draw a few more watts than other, larger skimmer, so that statement is really only relevant in California, the state of outrageous eletrical prices. But out here we try to make every watt count :) (3rd tier up to .36975 per KWH now, I think.. haven't looked at our bill in that much detail in some time now... too depressing :().
I am surprised by this comment since one of the reasons I went with Deltec is its low power consumption. My Deltec AP902 only uses 104 watts of electricity which is far lower than my last skimmer.

ok the 2" blue-velvet and 2" triple-stripe damsel i have, will this be a problem later down the line chasing my other fish. i dont plan on adding anything smaller then the damsel. average fish will be aleast 5" above. i also have 10 1" blue damsel too. if not i will have to trap them out.

Bart I just added my first fish to my build.. and ported over the live rock from the current tank.. MY point is that the Damsels will NOT be making the trip... Those damsels will harrass you until they die

Looking really good by the way!

thank you all, just wired up the other 2 MH left and right just to see how it would look. here are some pics with all 3 MH on. since my temp is rising i will have to finish chiller this week.

The Damsels should go if you can get them out. When I moved my tank, I kept them and regret it now. I have 3 Blue Damsels that are 3" or larger. They are bigger than a few Tangs in the tank. It's hard to tell from your pictures, but it looks like you have added some snails to the tank. You might consider attatching some algea sheets to the rocks for them to graze on until you get a little more algea growth in the tank.

I'll throw my 2 cents in too... I'd take the damsels out too. Unless you like agressive tanks. Better to do it now before adding corals, etc. How about chromis?

WOW. Just found this forum and spent 3 hours reading this epic thread.

The scope of this project is so far beyond me! Are you a genius or am I simple??

G'day mxett. My wife's from Bendigo. Lived in your beautiful country for 9 years in Adelaide and Canberra.

Welcome to Reef Central.

love the rock Bart. Really very nice formations. Nevermind the fish, let me tell you that those snails are not captive reef appropriate and when they check out, they will be extremely foul. Please pay very close attention to them and remove any that stop moving before they foul your tank. PM for more info. :)

I really love you aquascaping. Don't change it man. It makes me jeoulous. Did you used NSW to fill you tank?
