First S. Gigantea

So I finally gave in and ordered my pair of Amphiprion Chyrsopterus. I received the gig yesterday via FedEx. The mouth was open but not terrible and it is bleached but that was expected. So while acclimating it to my DT the mouth closed up and had a puckered appearance to it. After acclimation I released it into the tank and it attached and the clowns took notice right away. I looked fine but this morning it was shriveled up into a little ball expelling brown pellet looking things. So I went ahead and placed it in a 10 gallon hospital tank.

What size is it considered?

I ordered two mediums which arrived in terrible shape -- water was cloudy in the bag with lots of expelled waste/zoox and both were deflated. They had decent color though (not bleached). They never recovered, and died the next day. Blue Zoo issued me a credit today, but I just noticed that they've since changed their guarantee on gigantea (they now have a restriction).

Blue Zoo confirmed that they are using Cipro to treat their gigs. I'm not sure what to think of this. You may want to consider Septra instead of Cipro if you have it.

If it does pull through, you may want to consider isolating it from the clowns until it has a chance to fully acclimate. I've seen my pair beat up a newly introduced gig.

This was labeled as large.. I'm trying to be proactive with treating it at the first sign of illness but this is all getting confusing

d-nak, yah, i observed the no guaranty part as well. seems like the only place that has a guaranty any more is la and dd. personally, i'm having a couple lfs that i have a relationship with look for my first gig. still waiting... lol

From my experience and other reefers experience treating S. Gigantea they respond WAY better to septra DS so you may want to switch asap if you notice it not recovering. If you don't have it, order or find it immediately.

If that picture is as bad as he get then he is not really bad off at all. Best of luck treating him. It seem to me, now that many people use antibiotics, the anemones does not seem to response as good as when we first start treatment with antibiotic. IMO, diligent water change with any problem or discharge is the best way to improve the success of your treatment.
I was going to try to do some culture to ID the pathogens but I am really busy at the moment and this got put on the back burner.

In the mornings he is a bit worse but when the light comes on he quickly perks up. I have a 250watt metal halide over him.
