An online troll is someone that posts something crazy or insulting for the sole purpose of attracting attention.
I take issue with this.. I wasn't posting to attract attention, more just to ask opinions...
The implication is that the list of livestock is huge, and would be inviting disaster if added to a tank all at once. Also, adding 4 XL scooters to a young tank is looked at as a bad idea. I've never had them, but have read that they can decimate a tank's pod population, and then eventually wind up starving. Also, many people don't like hermits and think adding 100 of them, along with 100 snails for them to kill is a bad idea. The (humorous) hope is that you're not really going to do this, and that you're just making it up for the hell of it.
I'm really curious how it turns out in a couple weeks. That's more livestock than I've heard anyone adding to their tank at once, let alone one that's just started. But, you do have a massive tank, tons of LR, and a serious skimmer. It's going to be interesting!
Understand here folks I'm not just a newbie doing this for the first time. I've had other tanks before (Last tank was a 200g Tenecor Simplicity plus system, and I learned the pitfals of doing too much, or not enough) I killed alot of fish..... Trust me..
People seem to forget I'm not building a huge reef with SPS corals here.. (Although I have the flow to do it)
I know the tank is still "new" but I also know that the water parameters are doing great.. And that I have TON of rock.. And a TON of Live Sand.. (people seem to forget this) There are a total of 3 pumps on this tank.. Totalling a little over 7000gph of flow..
My fish are literally surfing sometimes.. There is plenty of movement..
Oh, and that skimmer, well, it's pulling crap out by the handfull..
I know the scooters are a gamble.. But they're cute.. And for now, FAT and happy.. They're really going to town on the LR / algea that I had in the tank. They do eat more than just pods.. So, as long as I keep them well fed, it shouldn't be a problem.
That said I heeded the advice of some of the elder statesmen on the site, and I reduced the hermit crab count and upped the snails...
Tell me, this is what I added on Tuesday: (It's not that many fish, so the bio-load won't be too bad)
Both angels are small in size
1 BiColor Angel
1 Lemonpeel Angel
2 L Lawnmower Blenny's
4 XL Scooters (3 inches long)
2 Twinspot Gobys
1 Yellow Eye Spotted Tang
2 XL Yellow Tangs (about 4-5" in size)
4 Emerald Crabs
50 Red Hermits
4 Sally Lightfoots
50 Zebra Hermits
3 Sea Hares (these guys are really taking the sand cleaning to task)
50 Astrea Snails
50 Tropical Turbo Snails
2 Black Brittle Stars
One could make the argument that the 2 XL Tangs would be the biggest bio-load.
I will still be adding the larger tangs.. At more than likely be adding them all at once.. But I will give things a month to settle out. I want to make sure water quality is going to stay where it's at before I go dropping $500 on show grade large tangs...
So, all things being equal, I don't consider myself a troll. I had hoped for a bit better welcome than this....
